    This is one of the best albums in my entire collection. Don Henry is an outstanding singer/song writer. I cant wait for his follow up LP. I highly reccomend getting this if you can find it.

    Don Henry is the best unpopular musician around. it is sad he has not made it big-time! Wonderful folk of the 90's. The only songwritter able to tell a life story in 4 mins.Creative, and a good buy for anyone with good music tastes. Go 88.5 XPN. Tha...nk you for playing Don. But this CD!!! From a great musician.     Henry's debut album can only be classifed country because of its high moral sense (which it actually gets from folk) and from the styles of the session players. With its malls and Mercedes, Wild in the Backyard isn't country -- it's suburban. Henry's a singer/songwriter capable of drama and humor within the same song. But his real strength is his ability to create honest humanity, a trait equally present in "Harley," about a boy named after a chopper, and "Half a Heart," a touching tale of unfulfilled promise.

Don Henry

Don Henry came to prominence when Kathy Mattea's version of "Where've You Been" (co-written with Mattea's husband Jon Vezner) won every award in sight in 1990 and 1991. Henry grew up in suburban San Jose, CA, and moved to Nashville in 1979, where he spent four years copying tapes for publisher Tree International (now Sony/Tree) and then became a staff songwriter there. ... Read more
