'Why We Fight' is an unflinching look at the military industrial complex and the rise of the American Empire. Inspired by Dwight Eisenhower's legendary farewell speech (in which he coined the phrase "military industrial complex"), the film surveys the scorched landscape of a half-century's military adventures, asking how -- and telling why -- a nation of, by, and for the people has become the savings-and-loan of a system whose survival depends on a state of constant war. The film moves beyond the headlines of various American military operations to the deeper questions of why -- why does America fight? What are the forces -- political, economic and ideological -- that drive us to fight against an ever-changing enemy?

Pros: Provacative, extremely disturbing documentary of the military industrial complex

    Cons: none

This is the most important film you will watch this year. Eugene Jarecki takes on the "Military/Industrial Complex" a phrase coined by the late President Eisenhower. The movie establishes beyond pale the fact that America starts and fights ...wars for profit and that our political leaders have been and continue to make decisions based upon on what is best for the arms industries rather than what is best for America. With chilling clarity Mr. Jarecki proves his case beyond a "reasonable doubt" that war is so profitable and the Complex so strong as to have corrupted our political system. Nothing less than the loss of the Republic is at risk. The facts are staggering and learning of them while watching the screen is an unforgetable event, one which will bother the audience for years to come. The facts and figures combined with the images and unforgetable music is just what the doctor ordered. There is no doubt that America is under attack from within by corporations which place profit over the freedoms we have. This film is absolutely required learning for all citizens of any age over 12. I absloutely loved this movie. It should be required learning for Americans of all ages. Five stars going away... Read more Less
