Pros: When it runs, clothes dry

Cons: It breaks down a lot, company has no replacement policy, polyester clothes can get melted

We bought this product to replace an older (yet stilling running) Whirlpool Dryer. We were lifelong, satisfied Whirlpool customers. Our experience with this product, and Whirlpool's handling of the problems will make us customers of one of their ...competitors. This product is the mate for the Cabrio Washer and therefore has a nice large capacity. It is also supposed to run more quietly than other units. We began having troubles with our unit on the day it was delivered. It was loud and rattling. Also the door kept opening by itself, while it was running. Whirlpool sent a repairman to look at it. He "adjusted" the door, somewhat helping that problem. He also had to tighten every screw and nut in the unit as nearly all of them could be turned with your fingers. This helped for a short time. Soon after, the unit started making noise again. Another repair was made replacing rollers and grinding some rough edges on the drum. More time passed, more noise. Now the bearing in the motor was going bad. The motor was replaced. They extended the warranty on the dryer an extra six months. More time passed same issue. Ordering another motor. Whirlpool's stated policy is to NOT replace a unit. They will continue to replace parts, I guess forever. When talking to customer service regarding all of this, I requested a replacement and was told that policy would not allow for such a solution. I stated that somebody at Whirlpool could make that decision and I was told "not even the president could do that". We do not yet know what the result of the third motor will be. I have missed at least three days of work and will miss one more. We have had to make numerous trips to a laundromat (12 miles away). We are not unreasonable people and realize that sometimes problems occur. This is a top of the line item, designed to save time and money. It does neither.
