Pros: Cleans well, variety of cycles, tub with high spin
Cons: spin cycle makes some noises
This is a good washing machine, and we have not had any problems at all after about a year of operation. The clothes come out very clean and we have not noticed abnormal wear. The dry washing detergent container can get a little messy but you have to make sure all the powder goes into the fill slot / hole. The machine spins so fast upon completion of the cycle that many thinner items are relatively dry and we hang them up.
Pros: NONE!
Cons: EVERYTHING
I hate this washer. It eats my clothes, literally. The clothes never come out very "clean" to my standards and if I had the money to buy a new one I would and put this one on my lawn as a flower bed, thats about all its good for.
I can't say anything good about it at all.
Pros: LOOKED NICE
Cons: ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING
I bought my machine December 2006 at lowes. I was excited until I used it. I hate that there is no flexability on the options only those that are pre-programed. My whites are no longer whites. all my clothes come out wrinkled and worn looking. I have to wash everything 2-4 times just for them to come out clean, but that only stretches the clothes all out of shape even more. I regret this expensive piece of junk. I miss my old washer. I haven't been able to wash my clothes for a month now because of the f51 code now.
Pros: none
Cons: the whole thing
I am so glad to see that we are not the only ones having the same issues with this washer! I am ready to get some cheap thing that will actually work. We have had service calls for stupid stuff, we have never bought warranties but for some reason we did the extended ones for this washer and dryer and are so glad that we did! It SHREDS something in every load, then junks up the drain pipes with the stuff it shreds and then we have leaks and then.....need I go on? I am ready for something else and this thing is just over a year old!
Pros: Very few
Cons: Guanteed to fail beyond warranty period
Several months out of warranty, my Whirlpool Cabrio washer failed. It's "electronic brain" is the problem, and Whirlpool has produced several "mother board" since then that still don't work. I've replaced that washer and have since been told by techs from Sears and elsewhere that future repairs will be necessary that will far exceed the cost of this washer.
Pros: sounds like Dr. Who's phone box
Cons: everything else
I have owned this Whirlpool Cabrio Washer for a couple of years now. I bought it because I owned a Whirlpool before and was very pleased with it. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this one.
The first problem I had with this washer is the water spill when the laundry is not loaded quite balanced. Instead of just stopping when the drum is spinning too much to one side, the water spills out of the side of the drum and between the housing onto the floor. The service repair representative explained that nothing can be done and this is just a poorly designed feature. So I am extremely careful when loading the machine.
I also donât like the fact that the lid locks when the machine is operating, something I did not know upon purchase. But that is a personal preference.
But now I have discovered a worse problem. Upon a number of occasions an article of laundry actually gets caught in the seam between the side and bottom of the drum during the spin cycle and is torn when I remove the item. As a matter of fact, a piece of sheet is stuck right now in the seam and I cannot get it out. The sheet, of course, has quite a sizable hole in it.
I have not been satisfied with Customer Support to date.
Too bad such an expensive washer is so unsatisfactory a product.
Pros: ?
Cons: F51, clouths and stuff getting into pump
I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio in April of 2007. I had the machine a month before it broke down and wouldn't work. The service men three in total came at various times over the next three months and the problem was "fix?" at the end of August.(yes it took that long) We had four people living in the house at the time. Hundreds of dollars in laundry bills later. I threatened their customer service with a 7 on your side report they then reimbursed me 70 dollars not enough. The problem is that through a design flaw items including clothing can get from the tub into the internal pump and clog the machine. I am aware I have to be careful of coins and such, but clothing? The last guy who came to fix the machine three months ago couldn't believe what he pulled out of the pump my daughters underwear. This machine was designed poorly and Whirlpools customer service is as good as their machine is their not. Don't buy this one it is a lemon. They really need to recall it. I was a loyal whirl pool customer, but I know I would never buy whirlpool again they do not stand behind their machines. I hope the money they received from me for this machine was enough because they will not see another dime. In this time of economic crisis you shouldnât be throwing customers away
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Very, Very disappointing. The first year we had the machine it was very quiet and seem to work well. Than the machine just starting going down hill. The noise that it makes reminds you of a airplane going through your house. IT IS THAT LOUD. Contacted SEARS where we bought the machine and after 5 trips of service calls, they come up with they can not do anything for us as it is the soap that we use. I'm sure TIDE HE will be glad to hear that. My husband states will never buy another appliance from SEARS again nor washer of WHIRLPOOL
Pros: Efficiency
Cons: Terrible washing, wrecks clothes
We bought our Cabrio set and I must say I've never been so dissapointed for that kind fo $$ you'd expect machines that work.
-It is constantly off balance.
-If you actually have "dirty" clothes it wont clean them. If you work in something like an office setting where your clothes really don't get dirty it would clean those probably. Real dirt, kids clothes, no.
-It twists your clothes badly. To the point where it wrecks towels in like 10 loads etc
-They keep saying "Well we will send someone out to take a look" That isn't going to matter the design is flawed, is the repair man going to scrub my clothes every time to get the dirt out?
I am very dissapointed what a waste of money. It has nice features but doesn't serve its original purpose.
Pros: A lot of nice features such as automatic water level
Cons: Poor agitator design
The agitator is poorly designed. The âfinsâ at the bottom of the agitator are not solidly attached to the agitator unit base but instead, are flexible and allowed to flap back and forth as the agitator cycles back and forth.
The problem with this design is that there is a gap between the fins and the the bottom of the agitator unit and the fins catch certain items of clothing, especially anything with a shoulder strap or pull string. The clothing becomes entangled in the gap and then and tightly wraps itself around the vertical auger shaft. The trapped items of clothing also drag other items of clothing along with them, entangling them around the auger as well. This creates a tightly wound âknot ballâ around the auger which is difficult and time consuming to untangle.
This situation is a common occurrence for us and has ruined several items of clothing.
Pros: LOOKS NICE
Cons: EVERYTHING
WE BOUGHT OUR CABRIO SPRING 2007. IT WOULDNT WORK AT ALL. REPLACEMENT WAS MADE. SINCE THEN TWO MORE REPAIRS. I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO REBALANCE CLOTHES BECAUSE IT GOES OUT OF BALANCE. CONSTANT F51 CODE NIGHTMARES THAT REQUIRE A RESET OF MACHINE. THIS MACHINE IS SO BAD I WOULD NOT GIVE IT TO MY LOCAL THRIFT SHOP. WHY GIVE SOMEONE ELSE ALL THESE PROBLEMS. ALSO IT TEARS CLOTHES ON OCCASIONS BECAUSE THEY WRAP UP IN KNOTS. WHIRLPOOL SHOULD RECALL THIS MACHINE.
Pros: Good amount of features
Cons: Leaks
We purchased this for our 2nd home and it has leaked water 2 of the 15 times we have used it. The technician tested for leaks and couldn't find anything wrong. He said sometimes water splashes out of the tub when it's unbalanced or overfull. He seemed to lack confidence in the washer, and he suggested an extended warranty to deal with issues that might come up. We have never filled it over the amount he suggested and we don't smash our clothes in. I have reported this problem to Sears and they won't exchange it out because the tech couldn't find a problem. We are having a tech out for a 2nd time hoping that they will fix it or authorize an exchange. In the meantime we had to install a drainage pan to save our floors from water damage. Buy something else!
Pros: Looks Good
Cons: Doesn't Work
I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio December 2006 from Lowe's ( LOWES ) in Kentlands Maryland. The machine worked for about 9 months and I haven't been able to use my washing machine since October 2007. Every part in the machine has basically been replaced at least once if not twice. Whirlpool has a problem ...and they refuse to fix the problem. They will send a factory repairman and he doesn't do anything. He claims that he fixed it by having the computer simulate an actual wash cycle. It is never fixed; when your warranty expires...that's it. The repairman told me there is nothing more that can be done and Whirlpool claims that its been fixed. Lowes is also worthless... they just spin you off to Whirlpool.
What should we do about it???
First, continuously encourage Whirlpool to do what's right and recall a defective machine.
Second, as long as Whirlpool continues to do this, make certain that every Cabrio owner knows of the problem before paying for repairs.
Third... make sure every consumer considering an appliance purchase knows that Whirlpool & Lowes should be avoided as long as this type of issue remains unresolved.
And finally, Save all the work orders; Don't trust them.
