Ok...heres how its going down. this CD rocks but it does have some rough edges to it. Two things. #1-IF your lokking for the lead sing(Ryan Key)...then don't buy it, they have a completely different guy. #2-IF your a HUGE Yellowcard like I am(the... biggest Yellowcard FAN is Me so don't say or think you are), then buy it and buy One for The Kids, The Underdog EP, and if you haven't bought Ocean Avenue YET...GET IT! BUY THE CDS, DON'T BURN FROM KAZZA OR CRAP LIKE THAT BUY THE CDS...SUPPORT THE BAND.IF YOU ARE A TRUE YELLOWCARD FAN BUY THE CD!This is Haggard6969, signing off!P.S.-YELLOWCARD RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Good to hear some of Yellowcards earlier Jacksonville days

Cons: Not the same yellowcard as "Ocean Avenue"

Just to clear up the confusion, "Where We Stand" is not a new cd in the normal sense. It is a re-release of an album they did back in 99'. Their lineup for the band was a different. For example they hadnt picked up their current lead ...singer yet, so thats the reason for the difference in sound, etc. In short, if you want to hear some of Yellowcard's earlier sound, pick up the cd. Pro Reviews: Where We Stand

  • All Music Guide

Where We Stand reappears in 2004 via Takeover as a reissue of Yellowcard's 1999 sophomore effort, in the wake of the Florida combo's majorlabel debut, Ocean Avenue. The sound here is a respectable sketch of what would come; while vocalist Ryan Key had yet to join up, original frontman Ben Dobson doesn't really sound that much different, and his harmonies with Todd Clary are pretty impressive. There's a heavy Offspring influence here, along with some Green Day and 311; the latter group's influence can be heard most on tracks like "Lesson Learned" and "Time Will Tell," where Sean Wellman's violin adds a dynamic instrumental layer to the usual poppunk power chords and rapid rhythmic pace. "Kids" is another highlight, with its cross of hardcore aggression and cool heavy metal changes, while "Sorry Try Again" keeps thrash in the picture. Fidelity is a bit of an issue here, especially if fans are comparing it to Ocean Avenue, which was mixed topshelf style by Tom LordAlge. But Where We Stand... is still an interesting look at Yellowcard's formative past for listeners made curious by the Capitol release. - Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide Read more Less
