First of all I want to say that this is the best acting of Leonardo DiCaprio. He was absolutely amazing and he breaks my heart every time I see this movie. I also love Johny Depp, he has so much depth. He has such a complicated life and you can...9;t help but feel sorry for him. I feel horrible for Gilbert and Arnie in the scene where Gilbert beats the crap out of Arnie and then takes off. He's dealt with so much crap that most 60 year olds don't experience in a lifetime and and its all exploding in his face at one time. Arnie is there and in the middle of it. You feel horrible for him because he has no clue what's going on or why Gilbert is doing this. It is a very emotional scene and well done on both parts. I have never been able to hold myself together while watching this movie, I always break down crying by the end. It is all because of a wonderful story and the wonderful way in which it was told by the actors and director. I will cherish this movie until the day it becomes uncherishable, and I don't imagine that happening. Read more Less

Oh my gaaaawd, i have never cried so much in a movie!!! In a good way! It was so moving, i cried in sad bits AND happy bits! It's so genuine and accepting of the things like momma's weight and Arnie' mental problems because it is all hand...led so sensitively. I loved everything about it- it wasnt over the top, it was very realistic. Johnny Depp is amazing (as always) because he brings such an innocence to every charater he plays. Leonado De Caprio is rediculously good as Arnie and the character of Becky really grew on me as the movie went on. The whole movie was so well done with the time scale absoloutly perfect! There were also so many subtle touches that i loved, just little sentances that showed how caring Gilbert was and things like that, and- most importantly- when Johnny cried after hitting Arnie that was just such an amazing bit of acting and so realisticly handled. i mean WOW, finnishing touch, icing on the cake... and the cherry on top too. this is a very realistic show. I highly recomend it to any body that has any family members with any impairments. Johnny always becomes the character he plays. great suppoerting actors, actresses. 3 thumbs up!

I can't count how many times that I have seen "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." And the more I see it the more I love it. Leonardo DiCaprio did an amazing job playing a retarted teen. They couldn't have picked a better person to pl...ay the role of Gilbert Grape. Johnny Depp is an incredable actor, whatever role you put in his path he plays it with all of his heart and does such a good job. In this movie you will laugh,cry,get mad and feel like you are there. its bursting with great actors and the story is beautiful! leo dicaprio portrays his character so convincingly.
johnny depp is one of the most tallented actors in the movies. and is very very sexy!
