Chaka Khan was at her vocal height at this point.She was scaling her way through glass shattering notes on all of these songs.The dominant style here is uptempo jazzy funk on the order of "We Can Work It Out","Fate"

9;ve Got Eachother" and the colorful "Night In Tunisia"-all filled with enough cracker jack musicianship and vocal theatrics to burst open a lead door!There are some more sudtle moments such as the classy title song,"Father He Said",the latinesqe "I Know You,I Live You" and the lovely "Night Moods".This is the work of an artist firmly in control of her music,not a mere producers puppet.It's from the older school (1981) of R&B but this style of music tends to sound ageless as time goes on.Was this review helpful?
