    Welcome Home Guitarists with Balls

    Ive owned this album from the week it came out. No doubt, this Cat can play, Doyles lyrics are haunting and personal, and his vocals are soulful blues but clean and clear and to the point. This album has a raw feel; emotions and perfection. Hes a tru...ely artistic Musician and Lyricist. Doyles guitar tones are beyond the norm and are simply stellar. You can hear influences like Clapton and Hendrix, but Doyle thinks on a different level. Hes one of Rock Rebel few. God Bless Him for Rock with Heart. Read more Less

    This album is so good it's scary. All the tracks rock. Doyle is destined for the Hall of Fame, and album puts him one big step closer. The songs, the voice, the guitar playing -- all top notch.

    Welcome, Doyle Bramhall's third effort, continues to blur the lines between rock and blues, but he doesn't always achieve success with this tactic. Although the album opens with "Green Light Girl," a frenetic tune with lots of rockin', driving guitar riffs, the majority of the songs veer toward blues, albeit unconvincingly. "Send Some Love," an aching ballad, calls for emotiondrenched crooning, but Bramhall's vocals are a tad too cool, and "Thin Dream" attempts at bluesy stylings but is really a rock power ballad. The last cut, "Cry," finally whips up some emotion from Bramhall, but it should have been spread throughout Welcome. Even contemporary blues needs a little grit.
