    One of the most creative and eclectic contemporary instrumental albums of 1990, Waterstation features everything from an atmospheric take on country music with liquid pedal-steel guitar musings by Kim Deschamps (of Cowboy Junkies fame) to extended pieces fueled by relentless yet almost translucent ethnic rhythms. Other compositions involve highland bagpipes, Egyptian reed flute, and zither. One selection even features a bizarre union of electronics, glassy trance rhythms, and spoken-word tracks.
