Pros: Fast game to learn. Great replay value.

Cons: Online play does tend to stall at times. Micromanaging can be tedious.

This is one of the best real time strategy games ever. The mechanics of Winter Assault is straightforward with a simple learning curve. Once you learn how to build your army the mission is to destroy your enemy. You start the solo mission aspects of the game by playing either Order (The Human Imperial Guard or the Enigmatic Eldar) or Disorder (The forces of Chaos and the Ravenous Orks). You go on various mission with different scenarios and objectives that must be met in order to continue on with the game. While some of the missions can be challenging, once you understand each races strengths and weaknesses, you will breeze through the solo missions and then be ready to play the other options of the game.

The skirmish mode is where this game this game really earns its keep. You can select one of several combat maps to fight in a one on one or in teams up to 8. You can play against the computer or several others on a network. Playing against the computer can be challenging but at times predictable. Also this game has a full support of players creating additional maps that give you new challenges to overcome, and new territories to conquer.

To play online is free and there are always challengers waiting to test their mettle. While there are some networks glitches and slow game play at times, there is nothing better than take your army and show your opponents who truly rules the galaxy.

The last bonus for this game is the create an army painter. While you are only limited to the 5 races available to the game (Space Marines are also included), you can create your own army with its own unique paint scheme and set forth to take over the universe.

Overall, Winter Assault is one of the best military strategy games out there. The game play is excellent and the constant release of new maps will ensure the replay ability for a long time to come. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes a good strategy game.
