    Had the original album and found the CD available as well. Now own both!
    Excellent piece of work!
    I believe the "alternative" works leave a bit to be desired if you happen to pick up the CD with those tracks.

    I was about 6 years old when I first heard it. I have loved it ever since. I'm 17 now, and I can't get enough of it. In my experience, the best way to enjoy it is to use your imagination. Turning up the the volume is a plus. If you want to gi...ve yourself goosebumps, just listen to it at night...alone. It's always fun to listen to on a long drive in your car. No matter when or where, it will always be enjoyable to me. It's definitely a keeper in my book. Read more Less

    A CD of this magnitude is not like any other i've heard, Jeff whyne is one in a zillion. Richard Burton's narration is excellent, the instrumental music is superb. If you can ony buy one more cd in a liftime buy this. The uplifting music and thought ...provoking narration will have you listening over and over.......Buy this, trust me. Read more Less

    I grew up in Wales, and went to college 120 miles from home. We left every monday around 4:00 am. this was the album of the time(1979-80). Talk about spooky.......16 years old, pitch black and driving....with this playing in the background, AWESOME. ...How things have changed. Read more Less

    Just put your headphones on, relax, and take a magical trip to the War of the Worlds. The Richard Burton narration is spellbinding and the music uplifting. Even the Martians give it 3 Thumbs Up!

    If you are looking at buying this album then you should...it is not all alien noises and creepy sounds but a emotional journey...such songs as Forever Autumn have haunted me for years, it is a beautiful album...god, who are you people? buy it today!

    Interesting concept album similar to what Webber and Rice were trying to do when their musicals appeared on LP first. Justin Heyward's vocals are the definite high points of the album. The cuts with Richard Burton's narration are far superior to the... edited Radio cuts.Forever Autumn and Thunder Child are off the scale, as good as Heyward has ever been. Unfortunately the rest of the album is uneven and doesn't match the potential shown. Read more Less
