    Don’t waste your money

    Pros: Decent special effects

    Cons: No plot whatsoever

    There ought to be a law. When you make a movie this bad you should have to reimburse the money people wasted to see it. No story line whatsoever, poorly acted with an ending that leaves you wondering what you missed.

    Pros: One good alien scene

    Cons: Everything minus the alien scene

    What's more annoying than the aliens cutting up people with particle weapons? The role of the codependant family portrayed by Tom Cruise as the father. The "War of the Worlds" is a stupid, fetid, psycho burp like virtually every other... Tom Cruise movie. All the family members do in the movie is fight with eachother. And even when the aliens are defeated, the misfits still can't act as humans, but have to posture like they still don't like eachothers politics. Maybe there is some goofy Scientology message in there somewhere. Gentlemen, check your E meters.... Dumb, dumb dumb. Read more Less

    Pros: Kept your attention.

    Cons: Beginning wasn't to clear the ending was to confusing.

    The best part of the movie was when the action was going on. The thing was that there was alot of action, but what caused it? I didn't really get why they spent so much time on all of the crashes and riots and violence; then they ended it with an... ambiguous ending. yeah I understood it but I found it to be a little stupid. I don't think I would watch a whole bunch of times. Read more Less

    Pros: Special effects above average.

    Cons: Nonsensible plot and poor acting.

    This is certainly the worst movie that Steven Spielberg has ever made. The story makes no sense, and the acting is below par. It is not even half as good as the original version produced by George Pal and directed by Byron Haskin around 1952. Besides... better acting and a much better plot, the original movie had a better soundtrack and a much better commentary. It also had a much better opening and closing. Read more Less

    STUPID movie. Poorly acted and directed--characters change their entire personalities from moment to moment. Idiotic dialogue and no plot line. Nothing fits together. No one acts like any normal person would under any circumstances. Intelligent comm...entary by Morgan Freeman at prolog and epilog and nothing in-between. Avoid this film.     As flawed as the original film was (1953), it was a hundred times better than this sorry remake. Once again, Spielberg proves he can't make serious science fiction (only fluffy stuff, like E.T.).     Pros: It kept my interest

    Cons: I was disappointed with the plot and the ending

    This is probably a nice movie for a Sci- fi fan. I likes the acting.. Dakota Fanning did great!.. Tom Cruise was ok... ;)The whole plot was silly and the ending even more ridiculous. I couldn't find anything else at Blockbuster so I ended up with... this.. It was JUST OK.. Glad I didn't go to the theater to see it. Read more Less

    Cons: contrived ending

    I was a little relunctant in seeing War of the Worlds because of the reviews in how badly it ended. But I did see it and the ending maybe farfetched, but the rest of the movie made up for it. This is a simple run-for-survival monster movie, in which... the aliens are monster who continually attack. It is a fast-paced movie with non-stop suspense. This movie easily had my heart going throughout. There was little time to breathe as once the family escapes a situation, all of a sudden we encounter another one. There is very little music, which makes it very effective once heard. In addition, the movie appears to be a tribute to many of Spielberg's blockbuster. It becomes fun trying to see the references to his movie. See if you can find them all. Lastly, don't go by the critics who hated the movie because of the ending. The movie was so intense that it must have been tough to try to end it. This movie could have easily kept going. I highly recommend it as a fun, scary, and heartpounding popcorn movie.     it was a cool movie,in the opening parts of the flick when the thing comes out of the ground , and starts frying people .lol, that was a crack up.and the blood plant thing blew my mind,hey people its worth seeing at least once,you should enjoy it.it ...definitly keept my attention.
