If there's one defining moment on this EP, it's in "Alone in my Room" when singer Jeremy Ackerman delivers the line "When the needle/Hits the vinyl/I'm gonna dance/And make it final" in his unique, campy swagger. Equal parts Modern Lovers, flagrant disco dancers, and all-age club enthusiasts, Walker Kong's aim is to get the party started and keep the kids dancing. This is about as unselfconscious as indie pop gets, even though dubbing Walker Kong an "indie pop" band is not altogether accurate. The group covers wide and varied ground here, successfully taking on surf-tinged campfire singalongs, propulsive pop/rock inspired by early Cure albums, and feel-good, end-of-the-night acoustic ballads. The Dangermakers (a tag which was dropped from the Walker Kong moniker after releasing this EP) even tip their hat to the all-but-forgotten Minneapolis pop band Tot 50 by salvaging their wonderful but obscure song "Sweat" and lending it new life. WK+DM vs. WK+DM marks an encouraging and well-execu...ted step forward for a young pop band intent on finding their groove. - Bryan Carroll, All Music Guide Read more Less

While that may be enough for any pop music fan to have trouble wrapping their head around, Minneapolis' Walker Kong (formerly known as Walker K... Read more
