The best Depeche Mode album out there.
Pros: Very good songs and music

I love their music. I love how Dave Gahan sings, how Martin Gore plays the guitar, and how Andrew Fletcher plays the synthesizer. I love all the songs on this album. The next best album of theirs is Playing The Angel.

This is the ULTIMATE Depeche Mode album ... stood the test of time, even after Exciter (another grreat album) came out :)

this is just simply one of the most important albums of the early 90's!! they're truly amazing!! get it!!!!! every song on this album manages to be great and you can listen to it the whole way through... not many albums can claim that!

even though i have only been listening to Depeche Mode for less than a year, i love their sound. anyone can tell that they are very good. this was the first album that i bought, and it is excellent. people think only the popular songs like Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence are good, but all the other songs are awesome. the lyrics are one of a kind, which everyone can find something in common with. i love how they use synthesizers in their music. it's a brilliant touch. and you have to love david's voice. this is a wonderful cd and it's good to start out with. surely one of their best!~

I'm African American, you would probably think I listen to rap, but Depeche Mode is my favorite rock band. To me, their best CD was Violator.

This album changed my life. My previos theory that nothing could "rock" without a guitar was shattered here, and even more on 101. Every single song is awesome. EVERYONE should have this album. It was so intense, it sent Gahan to the drugs, and nearly destroyed the band. Occasionally an album is so good (Fiona Apple-Tidal) is really takes its toll on the artist, and I don't think Depeche ever really recovered.

Their most consistent and most easily pleasing on the ear album of DM's.
I don't give it 5 because I think they are handed out too willy nilly here, and even though this is a top album I rank Black Celebration and SOFAD ahead of it.

Surely the most deep and intelligent electronical album ever made. All the songs are awesome, there is really not a song better than another. A puire classic.

Almost transcendental. DM brings forth a series of mood-establishing sonnets. Even the sequence of songs is carefully planned. If you have one CD to set the mood for a night with that special someone, this is it. Makes for a religious experience.
