Pros: Great for Teens
Cons: n/a
I love this CD my mom has it, my nieces, my sister, my friend, and myself! You have to get your own CD no one wants to let it get away. It is encouraging and touches your spirit. It makes you want to take back everything the devil stole from you and do better things in life. Listen to song #2 and enjoy the joy of the Lord through Kingdom music and Dance, by Tye Tribbett.
Enjoy from,
A child of God
Pros: variety in sound
Cons: none, really
Tye Tribbet & G.A. will certainly put you in the battle winning mood. Victory Live, their sophomore offering, is a laudable follow-up to the thrice Stellar Award nominated Life. The album combines the necessary ingredients for victory: high energy and spiritual warfare with praise and testimony.
The CD opens in the ring a boxing ring gearing up the listener for the match. The first song, I Want it Back, one of the best tracks on the album, has the crowd-pleasing, heart thumping, roaring action of the main event - including a hard rock edge that packs a punch. Try listening to it without moving or shouting impossible! Everything Will be Alright, another spirited blast, will definitely leave you winded. Still, the title track Victory is definitely the headliner.
Unsatisfied with just one sound, the group provides a feast of musical variety. The Brazilian undertones of Bless the Lord are followed by the Celtic reeds of Hallelujah to Your Name and the nostalgic classic gospel sound of I Still Have Joy. Theres a little go-go, a little funk and a bit of jazz. And yet with all its variety, the CD remains triumphantly cohesive. It stays on point portraying the many facets of victory. Its an album that contains more than one good song and represents many moods though for some, it might be a bit overwhelming to listen to all in one sitting.
If you are trying to escape the church in gospel music, this is not your album. There is no doubt about this CDs roots. The creativity and eclectic musical references that combined make this album a music lovers dream cannot camouflage its influences and role models.
So
why buy it? The music, the lyrics and the voices are worth hearing not a common occurrence these days. Plus, it delivers the intensity youd expect from a live album.
Instructions for Victory: buy CD, insert into player, and press play - lather, rinse, repeat
Pros: Great music, soulfull, excellent for youth
Cons: Nothing
I loved it. Plus I'm a teen who enjoys christian rap. Yet with Tye every thing was great. Really ejoyed "Victory". Teens check it out for real, cause it's the hottest thing eva. Plus it represents God in every aspect.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
I heard this on the Russ Parr Morning Show, a couple of weeks ago. I almost got a speeding ticket, because I was so hyped listening to it.
I didn't hear him say the artist's name so you can imagine who crazy I looked trying to sing the song (Victory) to anyone I thought could help me find it.
OH.MY.GOD!! I'm still sitting here bouncing to it.
Tye? WORK.IT!!!!
Pros: Diverse Tracks
Cons: "Look Up (Lude)" should have been a full song
When I first heard about this CD I was hesitant to buying it because it was said to be very churchy, like, back in the day type stuff. But I took a chance and bought the CD. Its not as churchy as some reviews might make it out to be (The CD was recorded live in a church in Philly, so its going to have church in it) and the 30 second samples on some sites dont do the CD justice at all.
I love how diverse the songs were! I was impressed with Hallelujah to Your Name because its in the style of river dance! Ive never heard somebody take that style and make a hot gospel track with it! Other reviews complain about how Tyes Victory was too go-go ish. It thought it was just fine. There are other gospel songs that sound like that and nobody says anything. I love the rock feel that some of the other tracks have. (esp No Other Choice and the second part of I Want It All Back) I play the guitar and there isnt very much guitar in the gospel music my church plays.
There is something for everybody (and I mean EVERYBODY) on this album. I think this would make an awesome grad gift. (esp cause the inside it Tye in a graduation hat w/ Bible verses about victory. Getting though school is a victory in itself!)
Anyway, that's what I feel about this CD. I wish I could have went to the concert, but it was a late night concert and I had SATs the next day so I couldn't go. :(
BUY IT DON'T BURN IT! It's 16 tracks for about $10. That's a great deal! And that's the retail price, it's not even on sale and it's $10!
Pros: Everything was good!!
Cons: lude should be longer
When I first heard this cd I fell in love with it! I like the intro, that was very creative and the truth. I listen to that cd everyday! He was able to reach all the types of music. It is sad that SOME think it is a bad thing to do so, but I have to totally disagree with them that is a great idea! If you did not buy the cd yet please rush out and get NOW!!! GOD BLESS:~) and I will always "LOOK UP!"
Pros: the big coment
Cons: the diagreement
I really enjoy tye's style,u know, his hypeness and everything, but combinating hip hop and go go with GOSPEL MUSIC is a no no.If you proclaim to be a "representa" of God,you don't combine music that sing and rap about sex, money, drugs, women being hoes and doing everything under the sun.........uh huh. so Tye and G.A.,fix this, and you will see God at his best for you all.I got a CD from a friend that had Tye and G.A. at Hezikiah's church, and I trashed it because he did a old song"I,I,I,I,stay in the light, stay in the light"yall know what i'm talking about, and also the exact beat and melody from a Hip-Hop group called Outcast, they are famous, now why would you do something like that at somebody's church, that mess belongs at a nightclub,Tye,and that's where you all belong,in a nightclub..........
Pros: Original Sound, wonderful music and the vocals were awesome!!!!
Cons: Dont like the crossover into the contemporary christian music sound!!!!!
NICE CD!!!!!!! I just dont really like the rock and roll cuts that much. It went from lets head bang to lets shout!!! I wish the interlude was longer. But you are doing it up big an you are an inspiration to many upcoming artists and there groups keep it up!!!
Pros: The title cut sizzles...nice album cover and colors used.
Cons: Too busy, overly orchestratic, too dramatic and not enough gospel influences
Whew, I was antcipating this one. And at $9.95, I was pretty excited. The first album, 'Life" is more colorful and is easy listening. It features a good mix and versatility...this one is too overboard. Very flamboyant in places and Tye's screaming is way too much for radio or for anybody's speakers. Heavy rock and other odd choices of music styles are used here, but it's not a good presentation, especially as a follow-up to "Life". Needs more work and better material. And I love gospel, i know my stuff, but this isn't a winner. An upset for 2006.
Pros: Perfect
Cons: Perfect
This album is one of the best albums I've ever had and listened to. For one normally when I get an album, I can't hear all the songs because I don't like them all but I love all these songs and out of all my R&B and Gospel Collection of albums and DVD's, I would have to say this album is the best out of all of them
Pros: Glorifies God, Give Encouragement,
Cons: Not like 1st album, a little-too-churchy
I am careful not to bash any album that is glorifying Jesus Christ. For the truth that is contained on the this album, I am grateful, and I rejoice at another chance for believers to be encouraged. Please hear this review from purely a musical perspective.
I have waited for this album for a long time, like everyone else. After I saw Tye live in concert in Montgomery, AL, I could barely wait to get this CD. So I got it this morning and just finished listening to it. I must say that I am dissappointed.
With their first album, I believe Tye & G.A. scratched an itch in gospel music that I had been feeling. Their nitch was a blend of hip-hop sounds, jazzy melodies, unorthodoxed song structure, all wrapped up in a down to earth refreshing package that wasn't too 'churchy' if you will. I was anticipating something along those same lines with this album, especially since the single "Victory" is banging on my MP3 player everyday, because I love the ingenius of combining the go-go sounds with the truth of God's word. However, with this album, this is not the case.
"Victory" is by far the best song on the album, and if you are looking for anything remotely close to the combination of truth, a banging beat, shear creativity, and a not-so-churchy sound that the "Victory" single offers, in my opinion you will be dissappointed also.
As I was listening to the album the old gospel itch started to come back. I loved the counter-melody the horns were playing in the background. That was hot, but the song quickly became rather churchy James Hall-ish kinda tune. It wasn't until track 9 "Look Up", that I felt like the itch might be scratched after all. But... it was only an interlude... ya'll should've let that one ride for a few more minutes. "Sinking" was a pretty good song, but all the style changes within the song makes it a little difficult to just let play. The rest of the songs in my opinion are kinda James Hall-ish. I happen to like James Hall, but with the advent of Tye's first album, the "Victory" single, and the "Everything to Me (I Bow before the King)" single, I was not expecting to hear what was offered.
Tye & G.A. be encouraged this is not meant to discourage. Your work is not in vain. The word will not return void. And God will continue to do His thing through you all. I just had different expectations given your first album and singles. Keep marching soldiers!
Pros: Lyrics, Message, and Music
Cons: None
Awesome! That's all I have to say. This album is absolutely awesome and a magnificent peace of artistry.
May God continue to bless Tye and G.A.!
Pros: Man where do i start?
Cons: N/A
This song is so HYPE! The band brings out the song all the more. Man but you have to see them perform this to get the TRUE EFFECT! Tye Tribbett is one of the most inspirational touching writers and speakers of our time. I reccomend this song to EVERYONE! But get the cd when it comes out May 23rd
