Veedon Fleece album by Van Morrison
, April 2, 2003Reviewer: tubepulls - See all tubepulls's reviewsThis album by any other artist would render an outstanding five-star rating, but since it is created by Van Morrison, everything inevitably is compared to Astral Weeks and Moondance. Outstanding songs on the album include tracks "Lynden Arden Stole the Highlights", "Who Was that Masked Man", "Cul de Sac", "You Don't Pull No Punches...", and "Bulbs". Exceptional album that should be in anyones collection who enjoys Morrison's early career and the most poignant succession of CD's ever made by an aritist. ... -

, April 17, 2001Reviewer: colin c - See all colin c's reviewsA friend told me about this Van Morrison album called 'Veedon Fleece'... I'd never heard of it before. He reckoned it was better than 'Astral Weeks'... I got it recently and bloody hell... I think he might be right!!
Absolutely Amazing... this guy is a songwriting genius...
I'm really surprised that I'm the first one who has reviewed this!!

Pro Reviews: Veedon Fleece (Remastered)
| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews The final album of Morrison's remarkably prolific and innovative 1968-1974 period (followed by three years of silence), Veedon Fleece brings the singer full circle, returning him to the introspection and poignancy of Astral Weeks. Composed following his sudden divorce from wife Janet Planet and subsequent retreat from the U.S., the songs are subtle and spartan, the performances deeply felt; though less tortured and cathartic than Astral Weeks, it's a record fraught with emotional upheaval, as evidenced by such superior moments as "Linden Arden Stole the Highlights," "Who Was That Masked Man," and "You Don't Pull No Punches, But You Don't Push the River." - Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide |
