If there is one artist that has been slammed time and time again, it has been Julian Lennon. The money grubbing scum at Atlantic records and the music industry got hungary for a young Julian to record another successful album after Valotte. After all..., they were trying to make as much of a profit of a John Lennon son, and well let's just say that he hadn't recovered until after taking the seven year hiatus before coming back with Photograph Smile (which is a fantastic album by the way.)Before his success and failure to handle the pressure, he wrote most of these songs in a period of uncetainty, dealing with the loss of his father, and dealing with the struggles that went into his relationship with his father. What it boils down to is basically John Lennon turned out to be not so nice of a peace loving individual, and certainly not as good a father as he should have been because he always had his back turned on his son. As a result, most of the mainstream public as kept their back turned on Julian as well. After all, he was just a carbon copy of his father, right? Wrong...Ashame really, because Julian in some ways was better than his father. I sincerely hope that Julian will be taken under the wings by The Beatles should a reunion ever occur, and if Julian wants to accept that challenge. If there is one person in Julian's life that has made it even more difficult for him after the loss of his father, it has been Yoko Ono. Sean should not ever get to play with the remaining Beatles, as long as Julian is still in this world. Julian deserves so much more credit for his talents. If you have not heard Valotte, purchase it today. If you understand Julian's life and what he had to deal with, the music on this CD will make you teary eyed at times. It is phoenominal and so are the studio musicians and producer Phil Ramone. It is time that Julian's debut becomes more of a classic. Read more Less

Although I Liked his Help yourself CD more this is still a must have! I'd hate to rate it a 4 a lower the rating so i'll keep it unrated and consider it a 4 1/2. My favorites are: Too late for goodbyes, Valotte, O.K for you, on The Phone, Say your w...rong, Well I don't know. Great Music to continue my Julian collection. Read more Less

    Great stuff

I bought this album just after Valotte was released as a single. It's definately not John Lennon, but the touches in Julian's voice are wonderful. Several years later, Valotte is still my favorite song of all time. The rest of the songs on the album... are interesting in their own ways. Read more Less
