Urban Rapsody
Pros: Rick fresh out of jail, recording again.
Cons: Lost some edge.
I am a diehard Rick James fan, but I am also a realist. I anticipated Rick's release from Folsom prison in hopes that we could continue the party that Rick started. I feel a 150% effort form Rick on this album, but for some reason I wasn't as moved as I have been in the past. As ususal Rick's musical ability shines through like the sun through a lace curtain. But I think his time away left him with somewhat of a gap as far as time is concerned. He has some interesting guest vocals in Snoop Dogg, Rappin Fortay and a few other worthy vocal talents, but much to my dismay I can't give Rick the overwhelming support that I would like to on this project. On a scale of one to ten I give Urban Rapsody a 4. Rick James, the original thug and not afraid to be himself.
