    A King at His Best!

    Pros: lyrical content, hot producers

    Cons: none

In my opinion, T.I.P. put it down on this album, he never fails at entertaining me. The lyrical content of this man is amazing, it's not your "average flow of the south". He has mastered creating that laid back pimp music, club bangers,... as well as giving you a song about chillin wit cha girl. I'll be looking for my boy to get a couple of awards in the "05". On a scale of 1-10, I'd give him a 10, mainly because his flow will keep you hungry for more. I think I'll go and get me another copy in case I burn this one out. Read more Less

    T.I.'s Progress, Progressing

By Reece  Dec 18, 2004 | 2 out of 2 found this Urban Legend review helpful

Pros: More Solid Tracks, And Collaborations

Cons: Trying to make a complete album

T.I. is good, this we know. From the tracks like "Bring Em' Out", to the more self-centered "You Don't Know Me," you can tell that T.I. is bringing his lyrical content up. Also, with the variety of tracks from inspirationa...l songs like "Motivation", to club songs like "Get Loose," and a urban favorite "Stand Up" ft. Lil Wayne & Trick Daddy. But songs like "Why You Mad At Me" throws the whole album out of whack. He's needs to stick to the music that he's good at making, he still hasn't got the moody songs down-packed yet, but besides that it's still a pretty good album from T.I., (Side Note: This album is good, but not the best he can do he has a classic inside him somewhere). Pro Reviews: Urban Legend

  • All Music Guide

T.I. went through big ups and big downs after the release of 2003's Trap Muzik. Right after watching two successive singles "24s" and "Rubber Band Man" become the most successful hits of his career, he was put behind bars for violating probation that resulted from a 1997 arrest on cocaine distribution and the manufacturing and distribution of a controlled substance. He received a threeyear prison sentence, only to be granted a workrelease program that allowed him to continue making music (he proceeded to record several albums worth of material). Then there was the MC's surprise performance at a concert for an Atlanta radio station, where he avenged the alleged shots Lil' Flip took at him while he was incarcerated. And that hardly covers all the events that transpired during the 15 months that led to Urban Legend, the followup to Trap Muzik. With all that chaos surrounding T.I., it's disappointing to hear him retracing his steps, rewriting old lines, developing with little progress. A...t the negative end, there's "Countdown," a flimsy rehash of "Rubber Band Man." At the positive end, there's "Bring Em Out" a rowdy Swizz Beats production with blaring synth horns and a sampled JayZ (from "What More Can I Say") acting as hype man, in which T.I. rides the beat while bouncing off it at the same time. Some of his most incisive moments are delivered when the mood is somber, as on "Prayin for Help," where he expresses pain and regret without dealing in clichés. Mannie Fresh, the Neptunes, Jazze Pha, and Scott Storch also contribute beats; some are perfectly satisfactory, none are highlightreel worthy. Perhaps it's asking too much to expect T.I. to show as much growth here as he did on Trap Muzik, but as is the case with Jadakiss remaining patient for that classic album (and you know he has one in him) is getting tough. - Andy Kellman , All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

T.I.

Southern rapper T.I. debuted with a 2001 full-length that earned moderate attention for its single "I'm Serious," featuring additional vocals from Beenie Man and production from the Neptunes. A Georgia native, he signed to Arista and delivered I'm Serious in October 2001. Though the album charted, the single failed to generate any action. - John Bush, All Music Guide Read more
