Pros: these kids are doing there thing

    Cons: they don't tour enough

I knew Sala and the Nesmith/Wallace clan growing up. He comes from a family of artistic and creative folks. He was the best dancer/gymnast the city of Danville(and the members of the Danville Masjid) had ever seen, and though his older brother woul...d say otherwise, was always ahead of the fashion game. I see nothings changed, just he chooses to express himself verbally now. I was very impressed, though not shocked that this kid would figure out a way to hold the spotlight. Hasi-Rock Read more Less

Geechie Suede & Sonny Cheeba are the illest pair of mc's i've ever heard together on record. There chemistry is mind blowing. Uptown Saturday Night is classic in my eyes, and every Hip-Hop Head should own a real copy or at least a burnt copy fa sho....Sparkle, Black Connection, Swing, Luchini, Coolie High and Black Nostaljack aka Come on are my fav tracks. Camp Lo's the shiznit!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 28, 2001

Since Camp Lo's first album, "Uptown Saturday Night," I've been craving some beats and rhymes from this amazing New York duo. The debut album was hot and also overlooked by many hip hop listeners. I don't know if these guys are coming out with a ne...w album, or what?! But it's been almost four years, what the dilly yo! The influences of this album can be seen from the 70's blaxploitation films and the sounds can be traced back to the hip hop pioneers of the time. Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede flow from one another; one ends with a rhyme and the other picks up where he left off. The counterpoint of these two can only be attributed to Posdanuos and Plug 1 of De La or Q-Tip and Phife of Tribe. I can even hear some Wu influence from the NYC duo. Their sounds are different fand unique from the "new rap" style that was emerging at the time, like Canibus, Juvenile, and Trick Daddy. Camp Lo gets an A+ from me. Read more Less

    Trully Superior Hip-Hop

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 1, 2001

Uptown Saturday Night has been a hit to any person actively involved in hip-hop more then just the beats and glamour. This is because of superior lyrics put over superior beats. Even pop-rap listeners would fall in love with this CD just to lay back ...and chill to. The lyrics are full of metaphors and sayings that the average mind cant analyze through one listen(I still find myself going back to further analyze this one CD!) Maybe the world just wasnt ready for the CL crew...I believe if this album was released right now it still would be up there with OutKast, and De La, in such in content, originality, and style. Why the whole world doesnt have this CD and the total disappearance of the Camp Lo crew is a true mystery to me. And if Camp Lo isnt brought back to the hip hop community represented in some shape or form, then it will be a very sad ending to a great group, that has greatly influenced my outlook on hip-hop. where are they now?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 1, 2000

I don't understand how a musical group with so much critical acclaim disappear without a trace. Many artists consistently put out terrible CD's back to back, but these guys never even had a second chance. I remember first hearing Luchini(this is it)... back in college, and even in Mississippi, we were feeling it. When there album dropped, I quickly bought it and I wasn't disappointed, as a matter of fact, in the last three years, I have bought it at least three times. I give this album, along with the Beatnuts first full-length album and also Souls of Mischief's first album, one of the most underrated rap CD's of all time Read more Less
