Pros: Excelent use of instruments, vocals are awsome

Cons: I supose if you dont like music you could find a con.

I dont understand why alot of people havent heard of Unified theory. Their music is great, sure its not any ordinariy run of the mill band but thats what makes them so fantasic. Great use of slide guitars and mandolins as well as some other instument...s that are incorperated into there songs. Great lyrics, so many people have made songs about love, money, hate ect. but unified has taken an alternitive route with songs about the fun things in life and how much it all should mean to us. Sure some of there songs seem as though they dont have meaning but really think about it and you will discover how wrong you really are. If you havent got this Cd at home get off your ass and go buy one, you will not be disapointed. You cannot miss out on this cd so get out and buy it or have fun trying to download it its next to impossable. Read more Less

Not the lyrics of Hoon, but worth your listen. If you hear it once you'll know, as I, it is a must have. Buy it now and don't even think twice. You will not regret it a bit.

Pro Reviews: Unified Theory

  • All Music Guide

Longtime Blind Melon fans longing for a link back to the band will find some solace in Unified Theory, which features former Blind Melon members Brad Smith and Christopher Thorn. While new singer Chris Shinn does bear some resemblance vocally to Melon's late great singer Shannon Hoon (both sing in a high register and have a thing for ethereal lyrics), Unified Theory's self-titled debut shows that Shinn has brought a more modern rock sound to the proceedings, mixing Jeff Buckley and Radiohead with Smith and Thorn's retro rock stylings (Zep, Allmans, etc.). In the largely redundant and predictable alt-rock world of the early 21st century, Unified Theory's incredibly consistent, 12-track debut is a refreshing break from the norm; the explosive swirl of the album-opening "Cessna," the muscular riffing of "California," the ethereal "Fin," and the haunting "Not Dead" are all exceptional cuts. But don't be mislead, just because Unified Theory comes from Seattle and lists Zeppelin as an influe...nce does not mean that they are merely aping the early-'90s "grunge" sound like everyone else seemed to be doing at the time. They've already created a sound all their own. Easily one of the best and most promising rock debuts since, well, Blind Melon's 1992 self-titled debut. - Greg Prato, All Music Guide Read more Less

After a plan to carry on Blind Melon with a new singer and a different name didn't pan out, Smith and Thorn began forming a new band. Thorn cam... Read more
