    The Best Western To Date

    Pros: Cinematic Masterpiece, realistic version of the old west

    Cons: Clint Eastwood should make more movies this good

    This is by far a masterpiece for star and director Clint Eastwood. I have been waiting for it to go special edition since its release on DVD. I saw this film in the theater and was amazed at how real a western can actually become. The directing, acti...ng, cinematography, and sound all get the highest marks possible. I have not yet seen another movie that was as flawless as this one. The story doesn't fallow the traditional script format, but that just adds to the fact that this is a western like no other. The story shows characters like they should be, and it was great to see realistic gun fights where no-one runs up the walls or jumps around like a fool. BLAM!     Western that proved Clint still had it

    Thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying story that kept a very gritty feel thoughout. The violence inherent in the genre is there but serves mainly to advance the story.I especially enjoyed the late Richard Harris in his small roll. I do not get tired o...f watching this movie. Read more Less

    I'm not a fan of westerns but I'll make an exception for 'Unforgiven'. Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this film and does a brilliant job at both. But once again it's Gene Hackman who steals the movie with his powerhouse performance which won hi...m his second Oscar.Fans of westerns, Eastwood, Hackman or Freeman will love this film.     A Western That Isn't Your Typical One

    The Unforgiven is a plain film that, unlike most Westerns, does not attempt to glorify the West. A truly powerful film that finally lifted Clint Eastwood to the greatest directors in Hollywood and redefined the genre. An absolute must-see!
