Set in the late 21st century, a subculture of humans has emerged with a genetic mutation causing enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence. As more people are infected and the government becomes increasingly terrified of their growing power, those with the mutation are treated as outcasts, subjected to terrifying tests and put into quarantine. The government sets out to destroy them, but one woman is determined that that doesn't happen: ultra-beautiful, ultra-lethal Violet. With eye-popping martial arts skills and chameleon-like abilities, Violet becomes a rogue warrior bent on protecting her new race -- and seeking revenge on those who created it.

Pros: watching Milla Jovovich run around in something more seductive than the little dress that she wore in Resident Evil.

Cons: too much bad blue screen work

“I was born into a world that you might not understand” pretty much starts and finishes this movie. But, after watching it I was left asking myself whether anyone really would want to understand it and I felt as though I had been cheated out of 94 ...minutes of my life. Ultra Violet proves that you can have to much of a good thing. The blue screen work really got to be to much. There were a couple of times that I found myself wandering whether or not I was looking at a digital rendering of Milla Jovovich or if that was really her. And when the CGI renderings begin looking like console games from the 1990’s, there is a problem. Not to mention that in a few places, the effects didn’t flow together at all. I wonder if fine actors/actresses like Ms. Jehovah or Mr. Fechtner bothered to read the script before signing on. If they did, I suggest that they invest in someone to read the scripts for them because even though the concept was great, the script was filled with bad one-liners and huge voids in storyline. I will admit that the opening sequence had me thinking, “Man, this is going to be awesome.” However after that opening sequence, the whole movie seemed like a let down, ripped-off copy of Aeon Flux, which wasn‘t that hot either. Don’t get me wrong, the DVD has it’s uses despite the dismal lack of a special features selection that is worth viewing. It made a nice coaster. Maybe a Frisbee? A bicycle training wheel? Or, if you just want to she Milla Jovovich run around in something more seductive than the little dress that she wore in Resident Evil. Read more Less
