Los Angeles audio collective Ultra-red was organized in 1994 by Dont Rhine and Marco Larsen, who previously teamed in the performing arts troupe bangmanifesto. First launching their own ambient club, dubbed ~Public Space, the duo also published their own newsletter, ~Contact: Earth Orbit Rendezvous, which outlined their concept of ambient music as the sound culture of everyday life.
