Ultima X: Odyssey [Cancelled] PC Game

Ultima X: Odyssey blends the third-person 3D action found in 1999's Ultima IX with the persistent world aspects of Ultima Online. Designed using Epic Games' Unreal Engine, Ultima X features real-time combat using a combination of player skill and character attributes to determine a battle's outcome. Perhaps the biggest feature is the ability to create private areas for online games, free from miscreants looking to disrupt the adventure instead working with a party to complete quests. This feature, referred to as the Odyssey Adventure System, also allows players to embark on various custom-tailored adventures as they make their way across the 3D landscapes.

A key element of the Ultima series has been the shaping of characters through Virtues, which returns to a prominent role in Ultima X. Through this development system, players can achieve the status of Avatar by mastering all eight Virtues. This mastery enables players to acquire new powers and eventually lead to the creation of followers or disciples. The disciples will then assist in the character's ultimate goal of becoming an Avatar. Other customization features are in the areas of personal appearance, inventory, and the formation of guilds.
