    One of the Great Albums from the Birth of Hip-Hop

    Cons: Not enough people remember the beginnings of hip-hop

    The realness of Hip-Hop as generated by the real life experiences or the singers and performers is evident in this album. The lasting influence of Kangol Kid in Hip-Hop is sadly ignored by the Yahoo so-called "Pro" reviemer. This group stil...l excites those of us who remember when Hip-Hop was cutting edge and new. You cannot replace historic moments like UTFO's place in the Hip-Hop cannon. If you don't own this, you missed a huge chunk of the story of Hip-Hop being born. Read more Less

    Diamond in the Rough

    I saw the crappy rating this CD received at SamGoody.com, so I had to respond here. The songs he discounts, Bite-It, Lisa Lips, and Beats and Rhymes were outstanding for their time. Lisa Lips is upbeat with its use of electric guitar, Beats and Rhy...mes uses great keyboards and is fast-paced, and Bite-It did very well on the charts. So, I assume that their reviewer wasn't listening to rap in the mid-80's. The Full Force influence made this CD very unique. Then of course you have good ol' Roxanne, Roxanne; The Real Roxanne; and then Calling her a Crab (The response to Roxanne's disses). Almost it's own little soap opera if you listen to them in that order. Novelty, maybe, but quality? Absolutely. Read more Less
