Pros: This season is loaded with laughs from start to finish. It has more than enough episodes to make any fan of the show laugh over and over. It has so many great episodes that it makes choosing one favorite episode difficult.
Cons: As with previous seasons, this one is lacking in the bonus features area.
The stooges are back. No, not those stooges. The other stooges. Charlie, Alan and Jake are back for a third season on DVD. This season could not have come at a better time, either. It comes out on the heels of a writers' strike, and looking down the barrel of a looming actors' strike in June. Season three is jammed with laughs from episode to episode on all four discs.
This season has some of the best episodes presented, to date, by the writers of the award winning sitcom. Added to the mix is a new character, Kandi, played by April Bowlby. Kandi is a young, rather unintelligent 20-something who ends up with both Charlie and Allan shortly before she ends up divorcing Allan. Her stay on the show made for some of the best episodes of the show's history so far, including the likes of "The Spit-Covered Cobbler." Alan learns the hard way, in this episode, just who expensive it is to have more than one woman in his life, even though one is his ex-wife.
Every fan has his or her favorite episode of this hilarious comedy. But this season makes choosing a favorite far more difficult. One of the best episodes of both this season, and of the entire series so far, is "Principal Gallagher's Lesbian Lover." This is the infamous episode in which Charlie stays up all night on a coffee binge. He does this so that he can be up early and serve as secretary at Alan's chiropractic office. Charlie's day-long caffeine buzz makes for laughs throughout the entire episode.
Other standout episodes from Season three include: "Hi, Mr. Horned One", "Madame and Her Special Friend", "That Special Tug", and "Just Once With Aunt Sophie." There are plenty of other episodes loaded with laughs. But these are among the very best offerings from Season Three. So it goes without saying that what this season lacks in bonus features, it more than makes up for in nonstop laughs from start to finish.
Two and a Half Men is by far one of the elite comedies to come along in years. Its only real competition comes from NBC's My Name is Earl, which was also sidelined by the recently ended writers' strike. That being said, fans of both shows can only wait and see what happens with the seemingly impending actors' strike. Should it happen, fans can at least laugh again and again at the current seasons of both shows, while waiting to see what may or may not happen this summer.
