    Trombipulation is the Revelation

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 15, 2001

I read some of the album credits and weird cartoon drawing in this album cover and one statement read " This is a new Revelation". He was right about the revelation part because with this album the Parliament era came to dissapointing end. Most of th...e original band members left after the 1979 album. Clinton tried to perform this album with studio musicains and came up short. Most of the songs are dull and unfocused. The descent songs are "Let's Play House", "The title track", and "Agony of Defeet". It's best to only seek these songs on a greatset hits complimation and not this album because It'll board you (the whole album in general). When seeking the Parliament that we've all grown to love, Pay a visit to the "Mothership Connection" or "Chocolate City", visit the labs of "Dr. Funkenstein" Have a "Motor Booty Affair" with your home stereo, Grab a front row ear as "Funkelceny Vs. The Placebo Syndrome" in a match for P-funk supremecy or just simply get "Up for The Down Stroke". That's what I call giving up the funk. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Trombipulation

  • All Music Guide

The final album issued before Parliament temporarily disbanded. Clinton's empire was being besieged, and while he didn't completely lose his gifts, the impact could be heard on the album. The spontaneity, bizarre comic wit and wisdom, as well as the production and arranging greatness, weren't as evident. There were no epic jams, classic satirical numbers, or magnificent message tracks. Instead, it was more a worthy goodbye, one that fortunately hasn't been final.

Biography

Parliament

Inspired by Motown's assembly line of sound, George Clinton gradually put together a collective of over 50 musicians and recorded the ensemble during the '70s both as Parliament and Funkadelic. While Funkadelic pursued band-format psychedelic rock, Parliament engaged in a funk free-for-all, blending influences from the godfathers (James Brown and Sly Stone) with freaky ... Read more
