    Autechre are vastly overrated...

... but this is still a good album.Okay, first of all I must give credit where credit is due. Autechre are clearly a pair of skilled musicians, and they know how to make some cool noises with their equipment, but geniuses they most certainly are not.... Richard D. James and Jack Dangers are electronic musicians who I would call geniuses. This CD (supposedly Autechre's best album) has it's fair share of great tracks such as "Clipper", "Rotar" and "Eutow", but many of the tracks seem to be little more than filler material. You know, stuff that wouldn't have made the final cut on Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2". A lot of the album just seems to lack soul, as though they spent too much time programming the music, but not enough time actually listening to it. Still, I recommend that you at least give it a try if you're into this type of music. As I said before, it is a worthy album. Read more Less

Although they are steadily going down the toilet in my opinion, Autechre show us all how to construct epic mind-blowing electro.

    oh my goodness...

i have to say i broke the rule that those die-hard Autechre fans made and bought Tri Repetae++ as my first Autechre album. and those guys were wrong. I loved this album on first listen, hell, first skim through. the layers on each song are so intrica...tely simple and mind-blowing that it's about as addictive as nicotine, whatever that means. EVERY song on this ground-breaking album is lovely, but my favorite is track 2, "clipper". that song just gives me a feeling that i can't describe. it just clicks. an internet friend of mine says he listens to Autechre to wipe away all of the boy band/rap metal/teen pop that he hears everyday. well, if you're going to choose an Autechre album to do just that, try Tri Repetae++. Probably the most accesible album

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 20, 2000

This is probably the easiest listen in Autechre's great collection of CD's. The american version is a jewel of electronically altered sounds formed into percussive beats. Add to that the Autechre flavor of melodic lines in each song, and you have El...ectronic music for all of those who love to sit down and listen to techno, although I hate to call it that.
