Promotional Review of this CD
, May 31, 2001Reviewer: Native_Tint - See all Native_Tint's reviewsAfter I have recieved a promotional CD of Paul Oakenfolds latest studio work (I'am told I have to thank Virgin Records management out here in Denver)I'm amazed that Oakey keeps getting better & better..his latest work titled 'Travelling' is by far & large his best work to date! There are a couple of tracks on both CD's that jump right out. The first is the release of the much anticipated Afrika Bambaataa's versues Paul Oakenfold remix of "Planet Rock" (CD-1, track #3)....this is Oakey's funkiest mix to date. But the track for the ages has to be on CD-1, track #9 "Bullet in the gun", original done by Bunny of Rabbit in the Moon last year, this one track will have all Oakey's fans wanting more. Also on CD-2, track #3 "Dooms Night" and CD-2, track #7 "Flesh" are both off the hook! But the surprise of 'Travelling' is the fact on the promotional CD on the last track on CD-2 is a Paul Oakenfold remix of System F "Outta of the Blue" that is must listening.....if you are not aware of System F or the track "Outta of the Blue" I highly recommend the original mix, you can download this track off of Essential Records website or by e-mailing me & I'll see what I can do! For those of you who know me I would have burned this CD but all of Sire/Virgin Records promotional CD's are formatted on DVD only & I had only a 2 hour window too review this CD so I couldn't get too a DVD burner in time. As of this writing Virgin Records has temporally pulled the plug on 'Travelling' to what they say is from Planet Perfecto management, but will be released in the UK first then out here in the states shortly after. Also Planet Perfecto management has stated that the System F remix will not be apart of the final copy for 'Travelling' but will be on a live Paul Oakenfold compilation set to take place at Studio 54 in Las Vegas sometime in September with the release date of this 'live' double disk CD sometime in early 2002......we can only wait for that but in the meantime Paul Oakenfold has the soundtrack for "Swordfish" due here next week! ...
