THIS OPUS PROVES THAT MUSIC HAS NO BOUND

    By Atreyu  Dec 17, 2001

This is such a braod sounding album, it's hard to classify it as Industrial, Goth Rock, Classical Rock or Black Metal. But one thing is for certain that Tea Party never fails to disappoint its undying legion of fans worldwide (TP has so far toured Aus...tralia and parts of Asia, where they have a very strong following). This is a masterpice from start to finish, although some tracks appear to sound mundane and melancholic.Through personal tragedy, Jeff Martin, time and again has crafted feelings of sorrow into words of strenth and wisdom. Martin's ability in making the ugliest song sound beautiful, and time and again he has done that. Also Martin's DOUBLE WHAMMY vocals can be heard on some tracks (this process has been used on "FIRE IN THE HEAD" as well as the latest grounbreaking epic (soon-to-be-2nd-single) from the band, "THE MASTER & MARGARITA".A very funny thing I noticed, that TP'S latest album "INTERZONE MANTRAS" (nor their 1999 effort "TRIPtych") is featured in their discography. But out of all the albums, TRANSMISSION remains the best, perhaps the most vibrant album of them all.An album that rocks with true emotion, "TRANSMISSION" will forever rock the minds of TP lovers worldwide. Swirling out of the Canadian north, the Tea Party swoops down on you like a blizzard, and Transmission sounds like it's at the center of the storm. Sounding a lot like the Nine Inch Nails of the north, the Tea Party pulses and grooves along with such cuts as "Temptation," "Army Ants" and the title tune. This trio manages to come up with just enough hooks to keep the listening interesting without sacrificing their sound. Full of hard rock thrust with industrial edge, give Transmission by the Tea Party a try. You just might come away with a new respect for those snowy days.

The Tea Party

Jeff Martin grew up in Windsor, Ontario, just across the Detroit River from the home of proto-punk and the Motown sound; he was also influenced by his blues-loving father. He formed the Tea Party with multi-instrumentalists Stuart Chatwood (bass, keyboards, mandolin and harmonium) and Jeff Burrows (drums, percussion). Martin himself plays guitars, sitar, hurdy gurdy and... Read more
