Pros: Light - 5 lb, Portable, Fast, Wide-screen,4 USB ports

Cons: Reflective screen, Poor battery life

I bought my laptop through Best Buy -with a $200 rebate and other freebies, this was the best deal available with a total price just slightly above a grand. It is easy to use right out of the box - there is a slight distortion because of the wider sc...reen (re-setting the display resolution just creates black borders and a smaller display) but not enough that it matters. When watching movies you get about 2 hours on the standard battery - so either buy another battery or sit in the first 6 rows in the economy plus section of an airplane (they have an electical plug under the seat). The screen is very bright and the images are extremely sharp. However, if you are not used to the new "anti-reflective&quo
t; smooth TFT screens, this might take some getting used to. You see more reflections on this screen than the standard "anti-glare" TFT screens - the trade-off being a sharper image. I liked the feature of being able to use the DVD / CD without having to turn on the compute

    The WORST Computer

By Gayle M  Dec 15, 2005 | 4 out of 5 found this Toshiba Satellite M55-S325 review helpful

    Pros: Great Graphics

    Cons: Everything else!!

I bought my Toshiba Laptop to travel with, but it's been a nightmare right out of the gate. Toshiba has had so many problems with the Satellite series that they made a deal with UPS to have UPS drivers in the Chicago hub trained to repair them t...o save shipping charges. They are in the middle of a class action suit about this line as we speak. My Toshiba Satellite shuts down at will, minimizes pages randomly, highlights and deletes when it feels like it while I'm writing emails. I never know if hitting the space bar, enter, or a random letter key will delete everything I've written. The DVD player freezes up regularly both during Play or Copy. I am returning it for the 5th time today. The first two times it was sent directly to Chicago (I'm in Des Moines) and came back with new stickers on top of old ones, indicating to the Geek Squad that nothing had been done. The entire hard drive was replaced finally, and within 1 day of getting it home, it was back to minimizing web pages, highlighting pages at random, and shutting down on its own. NO, I would NOT recommend this nightmare to anyone else. Do a search on Toshiba Satellite; there are several Message Boards full of irrate owners who are also getting no results from repairs or the Toshiba company. Read more Less

    Toshiba Satellite M55-S325

Despite being fairly well-rounded, this laptop is hampered by a cramped keyboard.I loved this retail notebook's light weight and its pretty peacock-blue lid, but for $1349 I would demand a better keyboard and touchpad. Read more
