Dissappointed
Pros: affordable
Cons: poorly built
This model overheats frequently due to poor positioning of the vent and fan. The fan actually does very little as it is placed directly against a piece of metal, therefor no air really gets anywhere. This model is OK for very light use but I wouldn't recommend it to a student or anyone else who might have it on for more than an hour at a time.

I bought this for school in Sept 2007 17 days after i got it the motherboard fried, best buy would not take it back, i dealt with warrenty 8 months 4 motherboards and 2 ram modules later it works :o) i always use S-video but my work only has RGB hook up, my RGB port does not work now. I miss my HP

I bought this laptop from Best Buy and returned it the next day because the screen would shut off. I traded it for the same model figuring that that issue was with that individual computer. I was wrong because this one does it too and it's very frustrating (ie: if you're working on something important, save frequently). It's comforting to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Otherwise, it's an okay laptop for the price. Oh, and the battery doesn't last long either.

this is my first laptop and i'm very disappointed...i should have bought the apple ibook for 600 bucks less...so not worth it.

I`ve had this computer since July 2007 and have had absolutely no problem with it. I`m a student, and it`s perfect for my purposes. I can recommend it to everybody like me.

I don't know much about computers so I don't know how defected this product is, but one thing is that the screen ALWAYS shuts off. No matter if you're just surfing the web or typing a document the screen will shut off. If you have this laptop and this problem occurs take it back to the place you bought it ASAP. Don't call Toshiba they will go through steps with you that will not solve the problem. I have called Toshiba over 15 times and the Customer service is TERRIBLE and if they don't want to transfer you to where you want to go, they will HANG UP on you.

Bought this laptop just recently. I just returned this laptop today at Best Buy ... thankfully before my 14 days was up. I had trouble at first getting my money back but then had them look at it. They proceeded to tell me that this paticular model is defective because of so many problems with it. I did exchange it for a HP because they wouldn't give me all my money back. I thought this was ridiculous! I also went back over to the computer section and they're still selling it even though they know it's defective! Makes no sense! Do not by this computer unless your looking for problems.

Pros: lots of features
Cons: lots of trouble with hard drive
sent unit back to Toshiba said they were going to replace the hard drive. got unit back and all they did was reimaged hard drive. after power is shutoff hard drive will not start back-up. have to remove battery and replace for hard drive to restart. had unit only eight weeks total. toshiba will not replace. will not buy another toshiba product again

this is a great laptop due to the value you get for the dollar
runs fine .it's flaw may be the hokey added screen quick launch

My generic Compaq from 4 years ago runs better, and it FREEZES less. Just like when Windows ME came out, Microsoft and a few Hardware companies team up to give you JUST enough so the computer turns on. The touch pad has issuses and sometimes it makes your browser go back 2-3 pages. Vista is an overpriced memory Hog. I can't return this either without being charged over $100 for a restocking fee because Bestbuy and Toshiba say there is nothing wrong with the hardware. Microsoft is a joke they want to charge me because I need tech support to put XP on to it.
