Pros: ... it's a laptop
Cons: Product & support are a raw deal
Let me disclaim that it's not this model that I got (I got a Protege 500 less than a year ago) and that I bought it in Bangkok. Nonetheless, it bears mention that the laptop had to have the keyboard, the adapter, the motherboard and the harddisk replaced. Support was kind enough but the whole institution was incredibly slow (just getting the harddisk took them a week).
The computer is really much slower than expected and nothing from reinstalling Windows to new motherboard changed it. Extended guarantee is expensive and although I look forward to more trouble, I won't get it because support is so poor. I have written to Toshiba politely but got no reply.
Technical support did not know what the concept of 'watt' (power consumption) was and claimed that there was currently no way to power a laptop through solar power (laughable; just google it!).
A second battery cost me exactly 40% of the one offered by Toshiba.
Before you decide on a Toshiba, try to ask some people who've had one for a while. For me, it was certainly the worst laptop decision I've ever made.

Cons: Speaker and battery
Pros: Feature rich with a low price
Cons: Speaker and battery configuration panels are difficult to find
I was looking for our first home notebook. I knew I wanted builtin wifi, at least 1GB RAM, as hefty an integrated video adapter as possible and an SDMedia card reader. I looked online and then perused all the local stores. Office Depot had the best descriptions of each model. They identified the RAM and processor in detail, going to far as to recognize the amount of Level-II cache and bus speeds. It was this information that clued me into what a package this notebook is. I was stunned to see it on sale at a price lower than others with 1/2 the horsepower. Of course, it was sold out at the store but I was able to order it online. It came with Vista Home Premium which it runs handily (thanks to the 1GB of RAM). I even run Half Life on it with no problems. The builtin WiFi adapter is much better than the one in the older Toshiba I use at the office and on the road. ...
Pros: lots of features
Cons: BLUESCREEN
i already reformatted & updated my softwares but still i'm experiencing bluescreen. grrrrr!
