Cons: Screen has developed black vertical lines, poor support from manufacturer
Paid top dollar for this Tv when it first came out. Extremely happy with the TV until 22 months later when the screen developed black vertical lines in it. Toshiba support was scripted, i.e. pay an authorized dealer to look at it. Have read a few articles indicating this condition may be a manufacturer defect and Toshiba says, "It's out of warranty." A $3500 TV doesn't even last 2 years????

Pros: Pretty Good sound quality

Everthing went pretty well for the first few weeks, then when the TV was turned on there was a loud "clicking" or switching noise coming from the set. Then it started changing formats at will like it was possessed. The clicking sound became worse and never stopped. Toshiba service was useless. They sent out a fly by night tv tech who had no idea what he was doing. He said it needed some kind of circuit panel but Toshiba would take up to 8 weeks to get it. Suffered for 10 weeks of loud noises and format switch every few seconds only to find out the part would not be available for several more weeks. I took this junky tv back, couldnt get a refund but did get a credit to buy another tv. I upgraded to a Sony and now have a perfect flat screen for the superbowl. My advice, stay away from Toshiba poor quality products, they are junk.

Pros: Excellent picture, ease of use, lots of inputs, did I mention the excellent picture? :)
Cons: Heavy to mount on the wall but doable, little on the pricey side.
I agree with the first reviewer, this TV is awesome and the picture is great! Bright clear images, displays all of the scan rates from 480i all the way up to 1080p.
One big selling point was all of the adjustments you can make with the color, sound, configuration, etc. If you're intimidated by this you can just leave it alone, as it looked good right out of the box. But if you like to "tweak", this is the set for you.
Also... you might have heard that LCD's tend to smear on fast motion. I have had no problem with that on this one. Sports are fun to watch! I think it's probably because of the 12-bit bus as apposed to 10-bit on a lot of other sets.
I looked at a lot of TV's before I bought, and this one was the nicest. A little on the pricey side, but I'm glad I went for it.
It is a little heavy, but I suppose that is normal for a TV of this size. You'd think by looking at it that it would be light, but it weighs over 80lbs. It will take 2 of you at least to get it on the wall if you want to mount it there.

Used the new house as an excuse to get a new TV. Enter the plasma v. LCD debate....Leaned toward plasma b/c there weren't many LCD's in the 50"+ range; rather, they seemed to top out at 46", with a few exceptions. Kept hearing so much about "burn-in" on plasmas, decided to go with LCD. Found this 47"--Toshiba name and plenty big--but couldn't find any reviews online. Bought it anyway and love it. Awesome picture. NFL in HD and XBOX 360 on this baby are heavenly. You'll see.
