Excellent TV after adjustment
Pros: Excellent image quality and value
Cons: Needed adjustment to get the image quality
When I first got my Toshiba Regza 42HL167, it had a problem with a bothersome green tone to the grey regions. Internet searching led me to discover that many others, though not most, also had problems with the "green push" (www.avsforum.com). It appeared to be a lack of proper calibration at the factory for some of the sets. However, I was able to properly adjust the colors using some of the settings published on the avsforum.com threads and have since had wonderful image quality - what I had expected when first purchasing the TV.

I have had this television for a month. Great picture. I replaced my Hitachi 42" widescreen HD and waht a difference. My wife fought replacing the Hitachi, but she is also very impressed with the sharp, colorfull picture on this set. It is as good as a Samsung or Sony. If your considering this set, you would be happy with the picture quality. Many adjustments if you want to adjust to your liking. Preset's looked good right out of the box.

Toshiba did their homework on this model, and i too did mine, the price just simply cant be beat for the quality you are getting here. The HD i get with cable is just amazing, but not dissapointed with regular broadcasts. Get this one!

Pros: All around winner
Cons: no DVI input, but was able to get around this by using an HDMI to DVI converter cable(HDMI is DVI video + Audio)
I had worked a few years ago in the TV sales biz and Toshiba was rock solid in overall performance. I currently work in the Film/TV biz and wanted a superb picture, so naturally I went with Toshiba. This set is equally comparable with the Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, or Sony Sets, but at hundreds less! This Set sells for hundreds less than Best Buy's price of $1800 and I got mine thru Amazon.com at $1400, with 12 months no interest, no payments. A deal! Upon delivery, I got a HDMI to DVI cable off of eBay and hooked up my Mac G5 loaded with RAM and the best video card to the TV set. The image was amazing playing DVDs and downloading trailers in full 1080P from Apple.com

Pros: Great Value, Great TV
Cons: Broke down within the first month.
This might just be my TV, but it broke down within the first month. Half of the screen went black. Only shadow-ish picture are coming out of it. Call Toshiba for support. They made me jump through loops to fix my brand new TV. Call the tech support twice. They send me to some local authorized tech support, and they were even worse. They made me repeat all the information I gave to Toshiba, and in home tech support was more troublesome. Timing was to their convenience not yours. And they may show up late without any apologies. Toshiba needs an overhaul with their customer service.
