Disappointing

Pros: Some form of exercise - until shoulder pain sets in

Cons: No career mode, poor controls, monotonous

I had the original Topspin on my old Xbox & was excited to find this title for my new Wii, but after just a few days I'm ready to on-sell this game.

Initially looks good with nice graphics & a selection of current top players to choose from, but the controls totally frustrate me at the inability to hit half the shots I could on Xbox Topspin.

To hit powerful winners is almost impossible - the tutorials advise swing fast & wide whilst timing it with the players swing. You can do this 10 times and might get a fast looking shot once if you're lucky.

Generally you're stuck with long monotonous rallies that go on forever until shoulder pain sets in. And don't even think about waiting to hit an ace... it won't happen!

The player movement & ball direction is controlled by the control stick on the Nunchuk but it's impossible to play with the accuracy that you can on Xbox. Even when almost yanking the direction control to one side, the balls you hit will often end up around the middle of the court... easy for the computer opponent to run down.

There is no career mode which normally is the best thing about playing Topspin, just a host of meaningless small challenges, to get a cup.

Don't waste your money on this one, if you're going to buy Topspin3 get the real deal on Xbox360 or Playstation3 instead, tennis just doesn't work well on Wii.
