    Pros: just about everything

    Cons: rash reflection

certainly their best album...nearly perfect all the way through...borders on the edge of overloading the senses with a composed cacophony of electronic and acoustic noise, coupled with stream-of-cosciousness and observational lyrics about the destruc...tion of the planet, animal cruelty, and emotional and psychological imbalances...an extremely original and masterful work of sonic sculpture that reveals much in its many layers of multi-tracked mayhem...even a sense of funK! Pros: Original

    Cons: Short

This is my favorite puppy album. Had to listen to it 2 or 3 times to appreciate it. Dark as hell but unbelievably original. I have never heard an album like this before or since it was released. The cover art work pretty much sums it up. Not quite as... mainstream as Rabies but definetly better. Worth a try. Only downfall I can see is trying to piece together the lyrics. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Too Dark Park

  • All Music Guide

When Ministry and the Revolting Cocks were offering what could be described as industrial noise for people who weren't industrial fans, Skinny Puppy continued to thrive on the extreme and remained far to the left of rock's center. Employing more bass than Puppy's previous albums, Too Dark Park has a bit of a funk element. But make no mistake: The industrial agitators (who had influenced Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, RevCo, Godflesh, and numerous others) were hardly going after rock's mainstream. Forceful and consistently abrasive, these twisted and disturbing collages of samples, electronics, distortion, and heavy guitars push the limits of rock and are about as hardcore as it gets. Those who have only a slight interest in industrial would probably be better off starting out with the more accessible Ministry, but this is a CD that the more seasoned industrial aficionados shouldn't miss.
