Tony Hooper was the cofounder and a key member of the Strawbs during the group's first five years of existence, from 1967 through 1972. He and Dave Cousins had known each other since the mid'50s when they attended school together and discovered, at age ten, a shared admiration for England's skiffle king, Lonnie Donegan.
