Pros: SINCERE EFFORT THAT PAYS OFF

Cons: DID NOT EXPLAIN BURNING BUILDING IN ONE SCENE

CARFUL STUDY OF THE "EARPS" KILMER SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR A SUPPORTING ROLL AS DOC.

GOOD WESTERN THAT ENCLUDES ROMANCE BUT DOES NOT HIT YOU IN THE FACE.

    SUPPORTING CAST IS EXCELLENT.

Pros: It;s the greatest about Wyatt & Doc

    Cons: None

This movie show us the friendship that Doc and Wyatt had.Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday was the greatest of getting into the heart and soul of Doc.Kurt the same.No one will ever come close to perfection that Kurt and Val put into this movie .It's the greatest movie of Doc and Wyatt ever made.

my favorite western of all time

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 17, 2004

Pros: greatest performances by Val Kilmer & Kurt Russell both in same movie

Cons: could be just a little bit shorter (very minor con)

This is just an outstanding movie. Both Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell totally nailed their parts....I can't decide who's performance I liked better. Possible the movie is not historically accurate but if you're just watching for the entertainment value (as I was) it is fantastic. They take the time to develop the characters and it's amazing how things said at the beginning of the movie come back at the end. Doc Holiday's "I'll be damned" near the end is a perfect example. Also, the confrontation w/ Johnny Ringo at the movie's end just may be my favorite Hollywood scene of all time. This movie leaves other wanna-bes in the dust. Open Range was okay, but KC is just not convincing in the Bad-A gunslinger role. You will need no such convincing in this movie.

If you like westerns and/or great performances, give this movie a chance. You won't regret it.

Pros: Greatest western since the Duke's westerns

    Cons: language was too course

This is one of the all time greatest westerns. Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer we great. The movie with Kevin Costner does not even compare to this one. This movie is also closest to what originally happened at the OK corral. This is a must see for anyone who likes westerns. Get the DVD so you can see the actual news paper accoutn of what really happened.

    Doc Holiday's Magic Guns

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 26, 2003

Pros: Great Story, Cinematography, Acting, and Sound

Cons: Editing Mistake in the OK Coral

I watched this film for the first time in a hot theater in Arizona. If Unforgiven wasn't made, then this would be my favorite western. If Doc didn't have magic guns in the OK Coral, then I would say this film was a cinematic masterpiece. Nonetheless, this film will still enjoy classic status.

I liked Kevin Costner's Wyatt better but this picture had a command of the period vocabulary that Wyatt did not. Doc Holliday by Val Kilmer or by Dennis Quaid are equally brilliant. Wyatt Earp had much more story and did not do quite as much overview. In my book they are very even in likeability.

Hands down one of the best Westerns ever made. The look and feel is realistic because it was filmed entirely on the Old Tucson studios lot in Arizona. The acting is superb, and some of the movie's dialogue is the best ever written or spoken. Val Kilmer shines as Doc "I'm your huckleberry" Holliday. This movie is a real treat, even for people who are not fans of the western genre.

This is the worst movie ever. The movie did not portray the wild west at all. Whatever happened to the classic wild west movies. Like with Clint Eastwood.

One of my Top 3 Movies!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 27, 2002 | 1 out of 2 found this Tombstone (1993) review helpful

A must see movie! I think the movie works because Earp and Holiday are shown as human beings with faults just like the rest of us. Russell brings a real genuiness to Wyatt and Kilmer plays Doc as the drunk and diseased man that he really was but what triumphs in the end is their friendship and loyalty. It is a real shame that this movie doesn't make the AFI's Top 100 movies and that Kilmer didn't receive at least an Oscar nod for his performance.

    Tombstone the best ever!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 16, 2002 | 0 out of 1 found this Tombstone (1993) review helpful

Recently I saw where the American Film Institute rated the top 100 movies ever, and Tombstone was not in it. This is a load of crap because Tombstone is the greatest movie I have ever watched, and it never grows old. Tombstone puts Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp to shame. Kurt Russell and Sam Elliot deliver their usual great performances, and Val Kilmer stepped up to the plate and actually became Doc Holiday in this movie. There isn't a single part of the acting, directing, or anything about Tombstone that didn't deliver. 5 Stars and 2 thumbs up all the way!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 18, 2002 | 0 out of 1 found this Tombstone (1993) review helpful

Tombstone is the greatest movie ever! I've watched it countless times and I never get tired of it. Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday is THE Doc Holliday and Kurt Russell gives Wyatt Earp a loveable and understandable persona in a way that Kevin Costner (Wyatt Earp) could never fathom.

Two words for you: Val Kilmer

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 19, 2001 | 1 out of 2 found this Tombstone (1993) review helpful

Val Kilmer portrayal of Doc Holiday is a work of art that only comes around once in a blue moon. The fact that he didn't win an Oscar is a crime. Kurt Russell, Bill Paxton, Sam Elliot, and Powers Booth also shine. The actors that played Johnny Ringo and Ike Clanton were incredible. There are so many great scenes in this movie.
