Pros: Sometimes it got me to where I was going
Cons: Sometimes it left me like a headless chicken
My mother let me use this a few times. I've never had any gps just randomly loose satellite signals and freeze up but this has a few times. I was really late for a job interview. I just drove random streets until it came back or I parked and waited. It took nearly 30min sometimes. I was also conformed to miles ("right turn in 2...1....point 5 miles").
This was pretty silent until the last minute and the English guy says things like. "Bare right in 200 hunfred yards"with no road info displayed. This last minute warning is bad when you are in the fast lane.
Relative to other ones I have used. I really did not like this one.
The display was bad and difficult to manage.
Pros: No pros
Cons: all cons
It doesn't take me to the directions I summit to. I have no use of this GPS and I am very, very frustrated because all the money that I spend for nothing. It's so difficult to use. I hated It Hated it.....hated it. It doesn't do eny good to me, It takes me NO where. NO where.....
Pros: easy to use
Cons: in bright day light.. hard to see and read
shiped with no program in 3 meg card support was great took almost an hour to down load info to card
Pros: Screen size is great, stores well updates well, touch screen works well, the power adapter is fuesd
Cons: Tad bit slow re figuring a route
All the functions work just fine,I had to buy a new one because I killed my roadmate 760 by not taking care of it and i had no issues with it. but what tomtom offers you cant beat it,I wanted a GPS that did not have a bunch of crap i wont use like MP3,camera,EX if you want a unit to get you there and back just buy it
and buy the extended warranty from
best BUY and you will be fine, not that it will break but they will replace it and or alow you to up grade for some extra cash if it dose fault like all machines will so please Dont let it set in the sun in a baking state like i did my old 760
and turn it off when not using it.
ok Iam done oh one last thing most reviews I read are picky people who like to complane like siskel&ebert
Pros: Easy to use, if you program it at home on your computer, and don't mess with on the road
Cons: doesn't list the rest stops on the Interstates
You should pull over if you have to reprogram the unit on the road. If you should change your route to somewhere it will automatically recalculate a new route. There is no more fear of losing your way any more. There are a few POIs lists that you can download to the machine, but, one is NOT the interstate
rest stops. This is, to me, a serious need particularly if you want to pull and catch a few winks.
Pros: Too many to mention
Cons: NONE
I recieved mine as a gift from my parents last Christmas and I really have no idea how I lived without it. I work construction and travel from Maine to California and it has been awesome.
Pros: Its Fun and Very easy to operate
Cons: None yet
My Tom Tom was a gift from my parents. And I have to say it was a great investment. It has a bright vivid screen and so easy to read. The volume is great for those who listen to loud music in the car. Its blue tooth compatible so you can call up any poi to get extra details. It has so many features and options :~). I would recommend this product to everyone.
Pros: large screen, easy to use, great quality, home and car chargers are great
Cons: doesn't say st names, battery life
i got this as a christams present. we drove from fl to ks and never took a wrong turn... absolutely love it...
Pros: large screen, excellent features, easy to use!
Cons: 2 1/2 hour battery, but charger makes up for it
I was afraid when i opened the box it was going to be difficult to use. this product was so easy, fast and very accurate. well worth the investment. its a 1,2,3 machine with excellent results. you will not be upset.
Pros: Very accurate and easy to use.
Cons: Short Battery life
After several trips using only the ONE XL to tell me where to go, I am very confident in it as a gps device. It has always taken me where I want to go, with very few hiccups (which it fixes on its own). This past summer it worked wonders on long road trips. I especially like the POI feature which helps you find things in unfamiliar areas. The screen on the XL is slightly larger than on other GPS models which makes viewing the map and route easier. The audio direction are very helpful make it so your not constantly looking at the device. Overall I would say the XL was very easy to figure out and use. I let friends borrow it all the time and they seem to like it too. I would definitely suggest it to a friend.
Pros: Easy to use, accurate, fun
Cons: battery life
I've use the ONE XL more than any other gps and it is by far my favorite. It has all the right features, and none of the ones I would never use. I've found it to be very accurate and it is very easy to use. It has a ton of POIs which makes navigating the city a breeze. I've used it on a few road trips this summer as well and its worked perfectly. I've found it to be a lot of fun in the car and would definitely suggest it to a friend.
Pros: very easy to preview/modify proposed route, nice feature set
Cons: doesn't pronounce street names, has dificulties scrolling the map

I spent over 3 hours shopping for GPS at large stores, playing with different features and different models. Of TomTom, Garmin and Mio brands, I found TomToms to be the best. There are some truly indispensable navigation functions in it. It makes it extremely easy to avoid
any part of route by clicking on the street name in the porposed route and selecting "Avoid". It easily browses
through any portion of the route, in visual or text
mode. Once the route is proposed, it can be viewed either as a sequence of screenshots of all turns or as a list of textual directions (think yahoo/google directions). When clicking on the text, the corresponding map pops up. There's also a way of telling the unit that there's a road block in front of you, which will make the GPS to re-route.
The map is large and clear. So are the directions. Note, that it does NOT pronounce street names. The interface is quite intuitive. There's a one-click access to volume control while it's guiding you along the route. It can even play back a full
simulation of any itinerary before the trip.
The only real negative/annoying thing I have noticed was the free browsing of the map. It is hard to drag the map around on the screen, and the zoom control is somewhat inconvenient. The unit tends to spontaneously leave the map and jump into the menus and make multiple undesired menu selections as a result of a single finger movement. I have tested it on older (TomTom 510) and newer (TomTom Go 720) and also on multiple One XLs (in different stores). The problem is consistent only on One XL. Nevertheless, if you practice with the unit, in about 5-10 minutes this problem will pretty much go away. The secret is to press harder than normally with your finger and give it a second before touching the unit and dragging the map. This did the trick for me.
All in all, I still highly recommend this unit. I am buying one myself today. However, if you have extra money or can wait for awhile, I would say TomTom Go 720 that has just come out is the real deal. It has no problem free-viewing the map, it DOES pronounce street/proper names and has tons of new features: Bluetooth, MP3 player, sophisticated "Help Me!" functionality and much more.
Pros: large screen
Cons: Does not specify or say street names, the street updates are a couple years old.
It is a nice guide for the money.
Pros: Very easy to use, Accurate, Fun!
Cons: 2 hour battery life
I've been using the ONE XL for over a month now and I'm very happy with it. It is very easy to input destinations, find POIs and just very simple to use overall. I've used it to find restaurants and on long road trips and it always gets me where I need to go. It's been extremely accurate so far. I really like the large screen, which makes it easy to read the maps at just a glance. I've had a lot of fun using this device and suggest it to anyone looking for a quality gps.
