    Pros: The functionality of the 510 is very good

    Cons: Battery dies and losses reception when car radio is on

    The 510 will not turn on while it is connected to the car charger, after about 5 days of minor usage. I am on my second car charger, which is a replacement that was supplied for free by TomTom. The 510 does recharge with the Home Dock. This indicates... that, at least in the case of my 510, there is an unacceptable defect in the system. If my unit is not unique, these devices should be recalled. The stress and confusion resulting from being lost, can negatively affect driving. My FM radio produces sufficient noise to override the satellites’ signals to the TomTom. This would NOT be a problem except that TomTom has not made the external antenna for the 510 and the rest of the series available in the USA. The suction cup mount could only be made to work by the use of special silicon grease. This would have been acceptable for me, if there were available a mount to permanently fix the unit to my dashboard. It is really a shame that the utility of the very good design of the TomTom was not followed by competent execution. Under these conditions, all I can do is forewarn potential customers.     Pros: Easy to use, loud enough and bright enough.

    Cons: SD card comes out when handling unit.

    This is the easiest to use unit I have seen. You can type your destination on the screen using your finger instead of a stylus. It is quick to sync up with the satellites even in bad weather. The only issues I have had are rare lockups which where re...solved with software updates, the SD card pops out when you are handling the unit and sometimes the maps are off by a few miles even with several satellites in view. (doesn’t seem to be a web link or email to report this to) All and all a great unit for the price. Read more Less

    Cons: Haven't had any trouble until Saturday morning

    Guit working after 60 days

    Cons: quit working

    I liked my tomtom 510, but after only 60 days it quit working. I turned it off and it never would come back on. I called customer service and was informed it had to be plugged in and charged with the house charger every so often. Which I tries but it... still would not come on. I took it back and got a Garmin, which I did not like. So I did return the Garmin and purchased a different Tom Tom. I liked the feature that the tom tom started telling you of your next turn when it gets to 2 miles. Read more Less

    Accurate, great value

    Pros: Easy to use and understand

    Cons: Some "points of interest" may be difficult to find in packaged listing

    Went on a trip with a friend who had one and it was the best thing since sliced bread. I bought one the minute I got home and then promptly used it on an out of town trip the next week. It was PERFECT!!! Saved me tons of time and anguish. Wish I had ...gotten one much sooner. I think the Tom Tom is more reasonable than the Garmin and Magellan models I checked out and for pretty much the exact same features. Can't go wrong!! Read more Less

    I would highly reccomend this device to anyone that gets lost as easily as I do. The 510 is great and has saved me a number of times. It is very accurate and will always get you where you need to go. I've never used a gps before, but this device ...is easy to use. You just input your destination and the 510 takes you there. I love how its ready to go right out of the box. Having this thing is a huge convenience, especially living in a big city. In my opinion, this unit was well worth the money and I would suggest it to anyone who has trouble with directions. Read more Less

    Bad Quality

    Pros: Dont know I took it back and got a Garmen c330

    Cons: Car charger started to smoke on first use.

    I went to plug it in to the car charger after I bought it and the charger started to smoke. I took it back and got a garmen.
