    Small Item, Big Help!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 2, 2005 | 22 out of 22 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

Pros: Small size, easy to use features, rechargeable battery

Cons: No Banks/ATM's in POI database

I was all set to buy the Garmin 2620, until I saw the TomTom Go 300. It's small size fits great anywhere in the car, and makes it easy to remove and carry around if necessary. It also has a rechargeable battery that gives you around 4 hours of us...e, so for shorter trips, you don't always have to plug it in to use it. Also that feature comes in handy if you are in the house or at the office, because it allows you to plan out your trip before you get into your car, and not while you are sitting in it (especially handy on a really hot or cold day). The unit comes fully ready right out of the box, and with everything you need. The 3d map view is also great, as I find it much easier to navigate than the traditional bird's eye view, though it has that too if you prefere. So far the maps and directions have been great, and the huge (reported 6 million POI) has been awesome, though, my lone criticism is that with that many, they should have done away with some of the lesser needed items, and included Banks/ATM's in there instead. I have been looking for almost a year now, and I am completely happy with my decision to purchase this item. I believe it is better than both Magellan Roadmate 700 & Garmin 2620, and at $100-$200 less, it's a no brainer! Read more Less

    Awesome !!!!!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 16, 2006 | 6 out of 7 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

Pros: Gets you were your going.

    Cons: Not always fastest route.

This is a great product. I have used it to get to places I have never been to before and it directs you in with great accuracy. I like the way it gives you plenty of time before you get to the next turn to get over into the lane you need. If there is... anything that is not 100% perfect it is that the directions are sometimes not as direct as possible, however; they do get you were you want to be. I love the POIs. I also like the idea that you can plan with this from inside your house. My sister-in-law has one that is added to there computer and it lags behind mine in giving information by several seconds. I would buy this item again anytime. Read more Less

    Tom-Tom.......

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 6, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

    Pros: Ease of use

    Cons: Updates of maps

This is a very good unit for basic use. I know of some streets that are APX 2-3 years old and they are not on the Tom-Tom, but there are other units (mapolies) that will bring right to a speific spot (EG: Location at my local Mall), but it is GREAT o...ther wise, unit will redo route if you make wrong turn, recharge in house if needed, and not like 'Stock' units that come with certian cars that the car has to be at a full stop to program GPS, and not as hard to work as the Cobra (they make a good rader detector, but GPS has a lot to be desired, as I said before unit is good value for the money!! also like to program via town name or zip code. Great unit for price

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 17, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

    Pros: Ease of use; portability

Cons: Update is a little tricky

I've been using GPS for 10 years on my boats but this is my first car nav system. I bought it when I moved to a new city to ease frustration of learning the way around - that's been 6 months ago. I believe it is fantastic. There are places wh...ere it gets confused at new intersections - but it's a navigational aid, not an autopilot. It has helped me many, many times in New York City, Baltimore, Houston, etc., and performed beautifully. Read more Less

Navigator Device really hit the spot

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 31, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

Pros: Sleek design, touch scren display, 3-D maps

    Cons: Somewhat expensive

I just got it yesterday and had test it right away. It comes with full charged battery and can be used right out of the box. The navigator display 3-D map with crisp voice for driving instruction, the color of the map is also very sharp and accurate.... However, when I planned a route home from my workplace, it seems to choose the nearest highway instead of navigating through local street. However when I didn't follow the direction it gave me and went away from the highway, it adjusted the route and show a local route which was just the route I usually take to get home. Very nice device, highly recommended. Read more Less

    I'LL NEVER GET LOST AGAIN

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 2, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

Pros: It's easy to pick your designation, language, and person (F or M) to help you on your intrests

Cons: wish you could turn the volume a little louder when you'rre on the highway when they're doing constuction

I'll never get lost again due to my gift. I have gotten lost coming back from lower CT by NY, going off the expressway and driving all the way across the state;almost to the MA border, and finally pulling over asking someone how to get back to th...e SE corner where I live. Read more Less

Don't waste your money on this piece of crap

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 2, 2005 | 5 out of 10 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

Pros: I returned it and they paid for the return postage

Cons: The product had really bad maps and then broke

Do not buy this one. Save yourself the aggravation that I have been through. The TomBomb worked OK for a couple of weeks, after taking up to 45 minutes to get a signal sometimes. It worked long enough to realize that the maps that come with the unit ...are so hopelessly out of date and missing so many streets as to render the unit useless in many situations. Then it stopped working. Would not turn on, just an expensive paper weight. Tried to get a hold of TomTom customer service. What a joke. Can't get through and they don't return emails. Probably going bankrupt or something. Save your money. Buy from another company. Garmin and Magellan are better. Read more Less

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 7, 2006 | 1 out of 4 found this TomTom GO 300 review helpful

    Pros: None

    Cons: Not WAAS enabled

My ttrusty Garmin broke down (would not turn on) on a Friday night. Found a Best Buy the next day. The extended warrenty worked, for once1 Best Buy said I had a credit og $449.50 and could pick out any item that price or more.Unfortunately the "...good stuff" is coming out over the next three months. So I bt a TOM TOM 700. the thing has a severe glare problem, is not accurate within about a whole city block, as far as I could tell. Also, it does not tell you which side of the street your upcoming destination is. Pretty much worthless in action. Returned it for a NUMI by Garmin which is satisfactory except for the Garmin problem of out dated maps. Read more Less
