VOLUME ONE: Centered around the wordless (and often violent) interplay between a hapless feline and his rodent prey, TOM AND JERRY's classic cartoons chronicle the epic struggle between cat and mouse with timeless comic aplomb. This collection features 40 restored and remastered shorts from several phases of the Academy Award-winning duo's 60-year history--from the original Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the 1940s, and the Fred Quimby-produced animation of the 1950s, to Chuck Jones' loopy 1960s television series and the original creators' 1970s redux.

VOLUME TWO: Containing 40 of the finest TOM AND JERRY cartoons to ever hit television and cinema screens, this second collection of cat and mouse classics offers a great chance for viewers to revel in their escapades once again. Interestingly, this collection reaches far back into the TOM AND JERRY archives, with a selection of early screen appearances from the feuding feline and the mercurial mouse. An impressive three Academy Award nominations were picked up by various cartoons included here, while a behind-the-scenes documentary on the actors who voice the characters sheds further light on the creative process that brings these loveable and enduring characters to life.

    Pros: Nice Colors

    Cons: Scrawny drawings, unpleasant sounds, unfitting plots

    I honestly wonder why some people (both young and adults) find this cartoon worthwhile of their time. I find this show irksome, illogical, uncreative - vulgar. Let us look at nature - mouse is a pest, mouse eats human food and stenches the whole hou...se. Human adopts cat to rid of mouse. Cat chases mouse, and mouse is usually caught. Human is happy, cat is happy. Suddenly, mouse turns to cute brown bear in two-legs with a brain - and, is everybody okay with that? So, okay, let's just say that the mouse is worth our sympathy - thus Tom, the supposed to be pet now becomes the antagonist; and the pest now becomes the pet. Again, I don't get it. Maybe this is an attempt to recreate (and improvise, or imitate) Mickey Mouse. Well, I'm sorry but you HB people totally missed the point! Mickey Mouse is a hero. He is not a scrawny little thing eating other people's cheese. Mickey Mouse is a animal-form human character, while Jerry - he's a mouse... I really don't get. What is the message of this show? Is it animal-right advocacy. If that's the case - then I should do a show regarding human-rights. I mean, letting a mouse free to roam around your house and eating your food? Or maybe it's portraying about violence. But a cat is a cat no matter what - and cats chase mice. Morals should not contradict to reality. Well, to make it short - I don't think this is a good show for children. It might put their thinking in the wrong way... Read more Less
