Tom Northcott began singing in coffeehouses in 1963 around the Vancouver area. He then formed the Tom Northcott Trio and played in San Francisco in 1966; Warner Brothers later signed him and released "Going Down." Northcott had success with three singles in the late '60s -- "1941," "Girl from the North Country" and "The Rainmaker." He built a production studio in Vancouver in 1969, and quit performing in 1973, though he released a comeback single, "The Trouble with Love," in 1990. The 1971...
