   Pros: good solid western

   Cons: predictable

   This is a western story about a boy whose father is killed in an Indian raid and he is "adopted" by a man who teaches him to be tough. Later, as a grown man, he's developed a surly reputation, but hopes to make a better life and settle down with a woman. This woman is kidnapped and he must face his worst enemy, his "adopted" father.
   
   Lamour is always a good read. Always solid upstanding characters. Real. Tough. Stereotypical. Simple. You always know who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. And you know the girl to be won over in the end. It's usually happily ever after in a western kind of way.
   
   Great for western fans. One of the better L'Amour books. 8/10 ...
