A great movie.
William Petersen (who has now made a name for himself on TV in "CSI") is awesome. His role is not the typical "good" guy...and he does a good job of making you love/hate him at the same time.
Wang Chung's soundtrack is right on target.

Set in Los Angeles, CA in 1985, To Live in Die in LA captured the right mix of adrellian for the action buff.
This movie was especially noted for a high speed chase sceen which was not done on computers. Real cars, real LA freeway and going the wrong way while manuvering through traffic. It makes today's police chase sceens seems boring.
The film stars 3 unknown actors at that time, William Petersen (CSI); Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Clear and Present Danger) ; John Pankow (Mad About You).
Good theme song same name as the film, by Wang Chung.
I saw this move with a buddie of mine and 2 Sweedish girls we just met. The date didn't work out, but the move was outstanding, and made us forget that we were on a date.
If you like good action, Secret Service-FED-suspense-with
-suprise twists-and how did they do that?-type movies this is a MUST see.

Excellent script, acting, atmosphere, soundtrack (gotta love what Wang Chung did). To this day one on my favorites, ranking up there with "The Usual Suspects". I can't believe it's out of print on VHS, even in more disbelief that it's not on DVD. Try it, you'll like it!

is the question that comes up very early in the film: DaFoe, in his first big role, is a criminal loyal to his friends - the cops (Petersen) are so reckless and lawbreaking in their pursuit of the case that their respective roles blur and soon reverse.

TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. is a forgotten classic of the 80's that was harshly criticized by film critics. Many intersting twists, great action sequences, and darkly entertaining. Wang Chung's eerie music and background score mixes perfectly with the rest of the film. Rare to find right know, and I hope it comes out in a widescreen edition for VHS and DVD.

This movie gives suspense and action a new name.The cast is great and Willem dafoe is an awesome bad guy. The plot twist & turns giving you one hell of a ride!! Definetly one of the best action films of all time!
