Synopsis: Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (2005)
Synopis: Set in a 19th century European village, this stop-motion, animated feature follows the story of Victor, a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride, while his real bride, Victoria, waits bereft in the land of the living. Although life in the Land of the Dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can keep him away from his one true love.Yahoo! Cons: Shouldn't have been a musical
Riding on the heels of the highly successful "Nightmare Before Christmas" animated tale, "Corpse Bride" held high expectations but didn't entirely deliver. Although a charming and entertaining story that touches the heart, the musical elements didn't provide the same catchy tunes you found yourself humming to after viewing "Nightmare". The lyrics seemed a bit contrived, but nonetheless did well to illustrate the story. The visual effects in this film however far surpassed "Nightmare" in every respect. Characters were rendered with exceptional fluidity of movement, and incredible detail: including the tiny twitches in the eyes mimicking the actual human gaze (when you look at a person while talking to them, you gaze wanders ever so slightly). For a heart-warming tale with beautiful visuals, see "Corpse Bride" - but don't bother rushing out to buy the soundtrack. ...
