There are some curious covers on this modern rock compilation. A reformed General Public does The Staple Singers' "I'll Take You There" (and earns a hit single for its trouble), U2 tries Patti Smith's "Dancing Barefoot," Teenage Fanclub appropriates Madonna's "Like A Virgin," and, perhaps most imaginatively, Duran Duran resurrects Steve Harley Cockney Rebel's "Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)." Also featured: originals by Tears For Fears and Bryan Ferry. As usual with such "music from the motion picture" collections, there's a sense of randomness here, but there are enough interesting tracks to keep you listening.
