A furious blast of primitive energy, mixing the spirit of garage fuzz with mod rock, the Carlsonics (a side project of We Are Vikings' Mike Scutari and Ed Donohue) find the perfect medium between the primal fury of the Stooges and the kinetic energy of the Who. As such, riffs reign supreme, with big, incessant choruses and huge, rolling drums carrying the sturdiest of rock grooves. Although a little more hard-edged than the pop-inflected lo-fi of We Are Vikings, enthusiasts of the pure garage aesthetic will certainly not be disappointed. Overall, an EP that kicks out the jams with abandon.
